Enjoy wonderful guides on our Hong Kong tours
Of course, our Hong Kong tours take you to the city’s highlights, but we believe the way you experience a destination is just as important as what you see. In fact, we believe this makes for the very best – and most beautiful – travel memories. It’s why we take such care, and spend time, configuring the most enjoyable approach when putting together our itineraries. And it’s another reason, we source the very best team to support our customers on their travels. A knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide can make all the difference to how you remember your trip. In fact, we believe your guide is one of the main tourist highlights. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to work with people who love their work, their city, and sharing it with you. On our Hong Kong tours, you can expect your guide to:
Facilitate all transfers
Help with hotel check-ins and check-outs
Smooth the way for entry into sights so there’s no hustle for tickets or wasting time waiting in line
Guide you on where to find Hong Kong’s best food (and even order for you too!)
And share their deep knowledge of Hong Kong’s history, culture, traditions, and local life.
Sound like fun? We think so. Why not let our guides lead the way for a truly memorable experience in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong highlights
Tap into Hong Kong’s many highlights when you travel on a private or custom tour. Our approach to designing travel itineraries means there is quality time spent at each highlight, balanced by ample free time to go your own way. Here is just a taste of what you’ll discover:
Ascend the mountain – It may not be Everest, but when you visit Victoria Peak, the highest point in Hong Kong, you’ll enjoy incredible panoramic views of the whole city. Lookout above the highrises and skyscrapers to the harbor and beyond. And a bonus? Tickets for the Peak Tram and Sky Terrace are included with your Victoria Peak visit when you book with ChinaTours.com.
Experience high-end Hong Kong – For a high-end Hong Kong experience of a different kind, make your way to Repulse Bay where the remnants of colonial Hong Kong meet contemporary style at the designer shopping readily available in this precinct. A side note on shopping from ChinaTours.com – Although we don’t offer commission-based shopping tours, we understand our customers love to gather genuine collectibles and mementos along the way.
Immerse yourself in markets – Hong Kong is synonymous with markets so it’s only natural to venture through at least one of them while on tour. Our recommendation is Stanley Market. Why? For being one of the best places to enjoy an authentic experience with locals. Hone your bartering skills and collect a memento or two from your travels.
Stopover at Aberdeen Fishing Village – Remarkable for many reasons, not least because this part of Hong Kong harbor is home to some 6,000 people living on junks, a visit to Aberdeen Fishing Village is the perfect place to try fresh, delicious traditional seafood dishes.
Float around on a sampan – You’ll find the experience of making your way through the fishing boats and homes on Hong Kong harbor fascinating, eye-opening experience. While not included in our tours, the team at ChinaTours.com can take care of every detail and book it for you.
Star Ferry – Enjoy the chance to traverse Victoria Harbour between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon aboard one of the iconic Star Ferry boats. Incredibly, this service has been operational since 1888, and continues to retain its appeal and popularity among locals and international visitors (even as more modern infrastructure is available). A fun and up-close experience of the harbor, according to discoverhongkong.com, Star Ferry boat ride is considered one of ‘50 places of a lifetime’ by National Geographic.
Ding Ding Tram – For another genuine Hong Kong experience, climb aboard a Ding Ding Tram for a ride through the city. Running east-west along the north shore of the island, gain a unique perspective of Hong Kong, while discovering what’s in a name. Ding Ding trams are so named for the fact that their bell is rung twice to warn pedestrians of their approach. Time to sit back and enjoy the ride!
Escape to Lantau Island – Take the Ngong Ping cable car ride to Ngong Ping Plateau and make the trek to Po Lin Monastery, a Buddhist temple and complex still visited by devotees, for some quiet contemplation and reverence amidst the melee of the bustling big city of Hong Kong. While there, savor the opportunity to marvel at the Big Buddha Statue. Large by any standards, it’s believed to be the second largest outdoor Buddha in the world. The Wisdom Path is lined by upright timber posts inscribed with Confucian, Buddhist, and Taoist sutras; it provides a glimpse into traditional spiritual influences which endure among local people today.
While time is always a premium on tour, we’ll help you make the most of every minute you travel with us, from pick up to drop off, and everything in between. Just ask us how.
Launch your Macau adventure from Hong Kong with these highlights
Enjoy adventures beyond Hong Kong with a visit to Macau while you’re in the region. Located just over 60 kilometers across the Pearl River Delta, Macau shares close links with Hong Kong and has its own unique appeal, no doubt a function of the Portuguese influences, which extend back to the 16th century. Incredibly, Macau is the most densely populated region in the world. When you arrive in Macau, take time to explore its many landmarks, including the Ruins of St Paul’s Cathedral, Senado Square, and A-Ma Temple. The abiding influences of Macau’s Portuguese heritage are evident everywhere, including in the currency, which is still the Macau Pataca (or MOP), although the Hong Kong dollar is accepted here too. Macau holds huge appeal for travelers worldwide and offers many highlights. Here’s just a sample of what you can expect:
A different kindof high speed – Jump aboard a high speed catamaran and travel across the water from Hong Kong to Macau. Early morning is an ideal time to make this adventurous trek. With new ferries being employed all the time, there’s every chance you’ll be sitting aboard the latest and greatest in marine technology when you perch high above the water in comfort. Enjoy the chance to be out on the water, taking in an altogether different perspective of Hong Kong and its counterpart, Macau.
Taste of Macau – Savor fantastic dining options available in Macau, including a rich selection of international cuisines. Of course, there is local Macau food, however, you can also dive into the other options like a memorable dining experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant or the local sweet delicacy, pastéis de nata, the famous Portuguese egg tart to create a truly delicious travel food memory.
Colorful Nights in Macau – Enjoy an evening out in Macau (or maybe two!) and take advantage of all that’s on offer here. Macau is famous for its casinos and even if you’re not willing to lay cards on the table, you may just enjoy wandering through to experience the hive of activity you’ll find here. Macau is home to the world’s largest water show, The House of Dancing Water. A production that’s been enjoyed by over 2 million theatregoers, this is a production that combines masterful acrobatics, drama, and music. For a total contrast in experience, immerse yourself in Macao’s continental vibe as you wander the Venice-style streets or visit one of the world’s finest resorts, the spectacular Venetian Macao Resort Hotel. If you do, be sure to make time for the incredible light show at the Parisian Macao’s Eiffel Tower.
Rise to the top – Just as spectacular views are part of any Hong Kong tour, so it is in Macau too. Make time to stop at Macau Sky Tower. It’s the perfect place to create beautiful travel memories, or if you’re brave enough, take the plunge with the AJ Hackett Macau Tower bungee jump (not for the faint-hearted!).
Ready for adventure? Let’s book you in.

Hong Kong food. We love it like you do!
Few aspects of Hong Kong exemplify the east-meets-west philosophy like food so what better way to experience and savor local cuisine by collecting unique dining experiences on your travels.
Hong Kong enjoys its own culinary traditions. Think dim sum with its myriad of individual dishes. Braised chicken feet, cha siu baau, or wonton noodles anyone? Best sourced from a quality tea house, we can take you there. But don’t stop there. Enjoy these other traditional Hong Kong dishes:
Fish balls – Compressed fish meat snacks eaten virtually every day by Hong Kongers.
Pineapple buns – Firm on the outside and soft on the inside, pineapple buns are found in just about every bakery in Hong Kong. A definite must-eat in this city.
Miniature wife cakes – A pastry with flaky skin made from pork lard and filled with a firm, chewy inside of almond paste and winter melon.
Sweet tofu soup – Deceptively simple, yet satisfying and delicious too, this soup is more of a sweet syrup sprinkled with yellow sugar that complements the tofu’s flavor.
Egg tart – A Hong Kong classic (whose origins are unknown, but most likely through British influences), the egg tart has been adapted to Chinese preferences. With both flaky pastry and short pastry varieties available, we challenge you to eat just one!
Roast goose – Referred to by locals as siu ngoh, roast goose is a dish to be savored, and if you’re so inclined, accompanied by a thousand-year egg with ginger.
Of course, there are many more iconic dishes to be enjoyed on a Hong Kong tour, and we’d love to share them with you. Just ask us!

One of the great things about all our tours of Tibet is they can be customized to individual travel timetables and interests. This includes extending the duration of stays in any destination and making arrangements for visits to other locations in the region, or even further afield in China and beyond. No detail is too small, so let us help you create the kind of travel memory that lasts a lifetime.
Tibet Tours: a moving, memorable and unique experience
Apart from the appeal of Lhasa and its many attractions, on our Tibet Tours any – or all – of the following can be arranged:
Potala Palace – A magnificent icon of Tibet, visiting Potala Palace will be a travel memory you’ll always treasure. Apart from being a surprising example of architectural design, Potala Palace is a place where reverence meets wonder. Both pilgrims and travelers alike sense its reverence, regardless of their origins. Formerly the residence of the Dalai Lama you’ll discover the history behind this sacred, mysterious palace, which dates back to the 7th century.
Jokhang Temple – The most divine and respected Buddhist temple among locals and pilgrims, Jokhang Temple has a history of over 1,300 years. Join the waves of awestruck pilgrims prostrating themselves outside the 1300 year old temple, the spiritual center of Buddhism in Tibet and location of the central golden Buddha. The temple presents an interesting mixture of the architectural design of its Tang dynasty, Tibetan, Indian and Nepalese origin.
Barkhor Circuit – Feel the spirit of Tibet as you’re swept up into the pulsing surge of pilgrims traveling clockwise around the Jokhang Temple. The walk encircling Jokhang is about one kilometer long, and locals and tourists enjoy both the atmosphere and markets.
Ani Tsankhung Nunnery – Located near Jokhang Temple is the only nunnery in downtown Lhasa. Built in the 15th century on a site used for meditation by the 7th century Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, the nuns who live their support themselves through the sale of alms and production of items such as clothing and printed texts.
Norbulingka – Built originally on the site of a healing spring three kilometers west of the Potala Palace is the summer palace where the Dalai Lamas worked and lived during summer. Now the extensive residence has become a tourist attraction housing a large collection of Italian chandeliers, Ajanta frescoes, Tibetan carpets and murals of Buddha and previous Lamas.
Drepung Monastery – Feel honored touring the center of learning and one of the most sacred monasteries in Tibet, regarded as analogous with the Sorbonne or Oxford. Around 300 monks study at the center. The biggest event is the giant thangka unveiling of Buddha’s picture during the Shoton Festival. This large complex is also home to a valuable collection of porcelain, Thangka, scriptures, Buddha statues, armor and weapons.
Sera Monastery – Gain further insight into the depth of Buddhist learning when visiting one of the Great Three Gelug University Monasteries of Tibet. The group of buildings established in 1434 is known as “Wild Roses Monastery”, in deference to the wild roses originally growing in the area. Sample true tradition of Tibet when you tour the magnificent Sera Monastery and watch the monks practice their physical form of debating which involves an unusual amount of hand slapping and pushing.
Want to attend a traditional Tibetan festival on your Tibet tour?
Our Tibet tours can be scheduled to align with the timing of important spiritual festivals in the region. Be sure to enquire about the possibilities of this inclusion on your Tibet tour when you speak to our team.
Celebrate the Shoton Festival – A highlight of the Tibetan calendar, the Shoton Festival marks the end of the Tibetan monks’ hundred day summer retreat. Known for its Tibetan opera and Buddha paintings, the Shoton Festival is the most important for Tibetan people. Join the local people as they view the famous Buddha Thaka.
Experience Thangka – Bright, beautiful and holy, Tibetan Thangka is a unique art genre that must be experienced in Tibet. Attend a Thangka ceremony and watch the art come alive.
Visit Namtso – The second largest alpine lake in Tibet, Namtso is a little over 4,700 meters above sea level. Not only is Namtso beautiful, getting there is a treat too. Take in the snow-capped Nyenchen Thanglha Mountain Ranges, trek around Tashi Island, or simply admire the sunrise view of the Namtso Lake.
Stay at the Everest Base Camp – If you’re looking for more adventure, why not take in the Everest Base Camp? With cycling and trekking options available to more intrepid travelers, Everest Base Camp is a must-visit destination in Tibet. Our team can easily arrange travel from Lhasa to Kathmandu. Just ask us!

Now more easily accessible from all over China via the growing bullet train network, Luoyang is a Chinese destination with a difference and makes Luoyang tours a must for history buffs.
Even in a one day Luoyang tour, it’s possible to capture a breath of the evolution of Chinese and Buddhist history – from an old imperial capital to the wonder of craftsmanship in the grottoes and the amazing capacity for renewal in the buildings and energy of Shaolin.
Highlights of our Luoyang tours
Luoyang tour highlights are best experienced over days, rather than crammed into a short visit. How else can you bear witness to some of China’s finest natural scenery?
Longmen Grottoes – Be amazed at the number, scale, and wonder of some of the finest examples of Chinese Buddhist art to be found in caves excavated from limestone cliffs, located in an area of scenic natural environment. Unbelievably, the smallest statue is smaller than a finger and the largest ten times human size.
White Horse Temple – Welcome to what is considered “the cradle of Chinese Buddhism”, the first temple established in China in 68 AD at the time of Emperor Ming of the Han dynasty. Significance of the temple has been preserved and renovated, along with the original stone statues that give the temple its name and many of the glorious halls and gardens in this interesting complex. From customer feedback, we know this is a favorite Luoyang tours attraction.
Shaolin Temple – Feel the history of China and Buddhism evident in the multiple halls and building clusters comprising the temple buildings, first established in the 5th century when the first Indian master brought the Zen religion to China. Even the martial arts for which monks have become famous have an evolving story.
Tianzi Jialiu Museum – Translated as the Museum of King’s Six-Horse Chariot, the special site museum displays the giant horse and chariot sacrificial pits. It’s possible on a Luoyang tour to take a step back 2000 years, directly into the burial rituals and archeological artifacts of the Eastern Zhou dynasty (770 BC – 256 BC), in situ, first unearthed in 2002.
