Highlights

Hong Kong
Zhuhai
Macau

Take a China tour with a difference and acquaint yourself with the colonial influences that have shaped the culture, cuisine, and contemporary life in Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau. Commence your adventure in Hong Kong. A foodie and financial mecca, you’ll relish every moment of this alive and bustling city of sky-piercing high rises and 24/7 action. Visit key highlights like Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, Stanley Market, and Aberdeen Fishing Village, while also enjoying the different perspective to be gained at iconic sites like Nam Pak Hong and Hollywood Road. Travel from Hong Kong to Zhuhai by traversing the water via the remarkable 55 kilometers long Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge. There’s ample time in this quiet corner of China to enjoy the waterside views and the story of legendary love entwined in the Fisher Girl statue. Finally, make your way to Macau, a place with an enduring legacy of Portuguese influence. A totally continental vibe emanates here and you’ll feel it as you visit the Ruins of St Paul’s Cathedral, Senado Square, and spend your final evening on tour visiting the remarkable and luxurious Venetian Macao Resort Hotel. Inclusive of four nights’ accommodation in a choice of four and five star hotels, daily breakfasts, enthusiastic English speaking guides attentive to your needs, and all transfers, this tour offers a wonderful insight into the way Chinese culture was – and continues to be – influenced by its European counterparts. Make it part of your must-do China tour adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Hong Kong

Your guide will be waiting at the airport with a welcoming sign and then take you to the pre-booked hotel. Together you will make your way to the hotel for check in, while on the way taking in the sights and sounds of this cosmopolitan city which is vastly different to anywhere else in China. Take the rest of the day to rest, relax or explore in advance of tomorrow’s full itinerary. Remember to speak with your guide for advice on local sights and dining options. They will be able to assist and even help with ordering if necessary.

Meals included: None

Note: Make the most of your first night in Hong Kong by enjoying one of the many Hong Kong evening highlights, including a wander through Temple Street night market, a taste of Hong Kong nightlife at Lan Kwai Fong, a bird’s eye view of Hong Kong at night when you visit Victoria Peak, or a chance to watch A Symphony of Lights on Victoria Harbor. For an additional charge, we can arrange bookings for these activities – or any others you’d love to experience while on tour with us.

Day 2 – Hong Kong

Today’s exploration begins when you are collected from the hotel and venture to Victoria Peak. Here you will ascend the hill via the Peak Tram and step onto the breathtaking Sky Terrace 428. Commonly regarded as the highest point in Hong Kong, Victoria Peak offers visitors wonderful panoramic views of the entire city. Capture incredible photographic memories here.

Journey on to Repulse Bay, a typical Hong Kong beach that is now famous for its eye-wateringly priced real estate – reputed to be the most expensive in Hong Kong. After soaking in the vibe of the bay, you’ll be transported to Stanley Market, the quintessential Hong Kong street market. Known for its collection of typically Chinese curios, collectibles and souvenirs, you’ll have the opportunity to make a purchase or two without the hassle of haggling. Having worked up an appetite through the morning’s activities, you’ll have the chance to savor some of Hong Kong’s finest seafood at Aberdeen Fishing Village.

A short stop for lunch of your own choice is followed by a Hong Kong must-do – a Sampan ride that provides a taste of life in Aberdeen. From here you will be transferred to the Western end of Hong Kong Island to explore Nam Pak Hong. Famously regarded as one the oldest neighborhoods in Hong Kong, Nam Pak Hong, which translates as ‘South and North traders’, is a local institution. Learn about the original industrious and community-minded traders and merchants who created business and nurtured community in Sheung Wan. A center of import and export trade between China, Southeast Asia, and beyond, the surrounding streets are identified as Nam Pak Hong street, rather than being recognized by individual names. You will have a chance to wander through this still thriving precinct that established for the local Chinese during the days of British colonial rule. The legacy of wholesale trade and commerce endures today as it continues to be the main center of wholesale dried seafood and traditional Chinese medicines in Hong Kong.

Venture on to Hollywood Road, one of the original streets built by the British Royal Engineers. Learn about its importance as an antique market frequented by foreign merchants and sailors who sold wares they’d ‘collected’ on their travels through China. You might even pick up one or two of your own. For a change of pace, take time to reflect at Man Mo Temple, one of the earliest Chinese Temples in Hong Kong. Encircled by a seemingly infinite number of modern high rise buildings that seem to pierce the sky, you can’t help but feel that both the historical and contemporary are well-balanced here.

Pass by the Central District’s Statue Square on route to board an iconic Star Ferry for a trip across Victoria Harbor. The Statue Square is the heartbeat of Hong Kong’s international banking center and evidence of its status as an financial center. The Star Ferry ride is just seven minutes from point to point, so have your camera ready. Land at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade for a magnificent view looking back at the spectacular Hong Kong skyline.

Meals included: Breakfasts

Day 3 – Hong Kong – Zhuhai (via HZMB)

Following breakfast and check out, you will be taken to the Hong Kong Port of HZMB located in close proximity to the Hong Kong International Airport. Here you’ll be assisted with the requirements for border crossing. Your guide will escort you for the journey of across the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge (HZMB) to Zhuhai. Those with a sense of adventure will appreciate there’s more to this trip than a simple border crossing. It’s an opportunity to marvel at the HZMB itself. At 55 kilometers in length, the HZMB is a remarkable feat of design and construction. Including a sea-crossing bridge and underwater tunnel that connects Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau, travel on this unique infrastructure is the perfect opportunity to sit back and enjoy the drive in unique surroundings.

On arrival in Zhuhai, you will be greeted by your Zhuhai guide and driver. Your exploration of this city starts immediately with visits to local landmarks. Stroll along Lover’s Road and enjoy the surrounds, which include a lovely view out over the glistening water and the legendary Fisher Girl Statue with its poignant story of love, death and revival.

A final stop on today’s tour will be made at the Zhuhai Opera House, a stand out building for its unusual and memorable design, which is shaped like scallops. You will be transferred to the hotel for check in before heading out to be amazed and surprised by a performance of the Chimelong International Circus at the Chimelong Circus

Meals included: Breakfast

Note: A first class ticket for the Chimelong Theater is included in the overall tour price, however, we are happy to arrange VIP seats for our customers to personalize this experience. Please note that a surcharge will apply.

Day 4 – Zhuhai – Macau

Following breakfast and check out, you will be taken to the Gongbei Port for entry to Macau. You will be greeted by your Macau guide and immediately commence your Macau city tour of local landmarks. Enjoy the relatively (by China’s standards) more modern history behind the Ruins of St. Paul Cathedral, which was built by Portuguese Catholic Jesuits in the 17th century and tragically burnt to the ground in 1835. Observe more Portuguese colonial influences at beautiful Senado Square, a beautifully designed and maintained square with significant European influences and architecture that held importance as a communal meeting place for both Chinese and Portuguese from the 16th to the 18th century. A stop will also be made at A-Ma Temple, thought to be the inspiration for Macau’s name. Built over 500 years ago for the purpose of worshiping the Mazu Chinese sea-goddess, it’s a fitting tribute to given Mazu was regarded as the patron saint of seamen.

The final highlight today is the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, considered one of the world’s finest resorts. While you’re here, there will be time for a little shopping and the chance to watch a remarkable performance by famous local street performers. Immerse yourself in the continental vibe as you wander the Venice-style streets and in the evening, you can choose to savor a memorable dining experience at the resort’s Michelin-starred restaurant or try your luck at the resort casino. There will be time to venture further afield to explore Macau’s by night and when you do, be sure to make time for the incredible light show at Parisian Macau’s Eiffel Tower. Or enjoying the world’s largest water show at The House of Dancing Water. Feeling adventurous? We can help you with that too. Challenge yourself by experiencing the world’s highest Bungy jump. Or for a simpler – and more delicious experience – savor one (or a few) Macau, pastéis de nata, the famous local Portuguese egg tart. We can help you arrange any or all these activities (a surcharge will apply) to help you enjoy every moment of your tour.

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 5 – Depart from Macau

Rise early and make the most of your morning before being transferred to the Hong Kong International Airport by catamaran ferry for travel to your next destination.

Tripadvisor score Excellent Tour and Outstanding Guides

August 2026 . Friends

We had a very good experience and would definitely recommend this tour. The itinerary was well paced, covered the major sights we wanted to see, and the logistics were handled very well.

The guides were the strongest part of the trip. Helen was exceptional; Robert, John and Smile were all knowledgeable, attentive and flexible. They worked hard to make the trip comfortable and adjusted when needed. Smile’s recommendation of the Beijing acrobat show was an unexpected highlight.

We loved the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Terracotta Warriors, pandas and Shanghai Museum. The Peking duck experience was also excellent. Crowds were overwhelming at times, but that was beyond the tour company’s control.

There were a few areas for improvement; dietary restrictions needed better communication with restaurants, domestic airline baggage limits should be explained in advance, and we would have appreciated clearer instructions for high-speed train travel.

Overall, it was a memorable trip with excellent guides, good pacing and very well-managed logistics. We were very glad we chose this tour.

Tripadvisor score Wonderful Experience in Xi’an with Eric and China Tours

July 2026

China Tours is a great tour company and you can relax in China as they pick you up from the airport, lead you to the your hotel, and arrange your tours with an experienced guide and driver. If you visit Xi-an and get tour guide, Eric, you got lucky! Eric is extremely smart, diligent, and prepared as a tour guide. He speaks English well and also has a great sense of humor. Your whole family will enjoy his company. We had a great time seeing the Terracotta Warriors, attending the live show, riding bikes on the City Wall as well as visiting the Muslim District. I have to say Xi'an is very hot and humid in July but Eric has a positive attitude and works with you to make the trip pleasurable. He also has a magic Mary Poppins-type backpack where he is able to pull out things you need i.e. umbrella, tissues, his 1st grade homework, etc. I would say he was one of the best tour guides we have had!

Tripadvisor score Excellent Personal Tours of the Beijing and Xi’an regions

August 2026

We had two different guide/driver teams during our trip to China, one in Beijing from August 3–6 and another in Xi’an from August 6–8, and both were excellent.

In Beijing, our guide was Cynthia 常. She picked us up at the airport and was always on time, as was our driver. The driver had a newer Chinese electric sedan, which was very comfortable, and he was friendly and drove very well.

Cynthia was very helpful throughout the three days. She took us to all the main places we wanted to see, but she was also very flexible when we decided to change things around at the last minute. We never felt like we were being rushed through a fixed itinerary. She was also happy to help when we wanted to find local food rather than just eat at the usual tourist restaurants.

Cynthia and the driver also took us to the train station when we left Beijing, and when we arrived in Xi’an, Eric and our new driver were already there waiting for us. They were just as punctual and professional.

Eric had prepared some small trinkets for us to receive at some of the historical sites around Xi’an and Lintong. It was a small thing, but it was a nice and thoughtful touch.

We were particularly interested in trying local food, and both teams were very helpful with this. We had some great meals because of their recommendations. The river trout near the Great Wall was a particular favorite in Beijing, and of course the biang-biang noodles in Xi’an were a must.

We really appreciated having guides who were willing to listen to what we actually wanted to do instead of simply following a standard schedule. Both Cynthia and Eric were friendly, helpful and easy to travel with, and both drivers made us feel comfortable getting around.

I would definitely recommend Cynthia and Eric to other visitors, and I hope we get the chance to use them again if we return to China.

Tripadvisor score Our first time to China

July 2026

We have had a phenomenal trip with China Tours. We flew into Shanghai and we were met by Lucy at Customs. Three nights gave us plenty of time to see the sites in Shanghai, Suzhou and Tongli, the museum, a few gardens, park, French section, the Bund and the old section. The Hotel was gorgeous! Next we flew to Xi’an where we were met by Eric and our driver. Both Eric and Lucy are fluent in English. Both are incredible knowledgeable about their perspective cities. With Eric we visited the Terracotta Soldiers, and Goose Pagoda. I left my phone in the restroom of the Pagoda. I realized my phone was missing about 30 minutes and 35 miles later. Eric went the extra mile, my phone was found intact and after a special detour it was returned to me. If coming to Xi’an I recommend Eric as your guide. There is so much to see and do here! A natural hot springs, mountain trails, museums, the City wall!
I am very impresssed with how smooth our trip has been and how personalized it is. From the accommodations, the drivers, guides, tours, in country flights I am incredibly pleased with Chinatours and I recommend them highly.
