We started in Kunming and made our way to Shangr-Li, stopping by in Dali and Lijiang. The places were amazing and the agency was greatly supportive and flexible, catering very nicely to our needs (extremely appreciated when traveling with 1 baby and 1 toddler!!).

Excellent Taiwan tour from China Travels. We found this company on the web and was super pleased with the communications and arrangements through Martha. I was traveling with my sister and 10 friends who had previously lived in Taiwan so we wanted to revisit our childhood. We started in Taipei, then went to Sun Moon Lake, Alishan and Tainan. Taroko Gorge was on our list due to the earthquake damage from last year, we changed places. Our tour guide, Cathy Lin, was great as she added some activities and places to our itinerary that were hidden gems. Very responsive to our needs throughout the tour. I really enjoyed my recent private tour with China Tours! I remembered I took a China Tours about 13 years ago in Beijing and since I had a long weekend during a recent business trip, I decided to take the chance on them again and booked on-line. Working with Martha via email on short notice and right before the National Holiday, she was able to arrange a 1-day private trip for me to the Terracotta Warriors, Mosque, and the Xi'an Wall with Cathy K. as my tour guide. Even before my tour began, Cathy reached out to me and gave suggested a few sites to visit in the city the afternoon I arrived.
Morning of, pick up time was confirmed via WeChat and Cathy picked me up in a nice minivan and was escorted all day by a VERY knowledgeable tour guide in Cathy. She knew the tour well, the sites visited and their history, shared many welcoming stories and information. Her English was almost perfect and welcoming after a long business trip. More importantly, she knew her city well and made several great food recommendations - local lunch was amazing and so were the pomegranates! She even helped me purchase some jade necklaces as gifts.
Although it rained all day long, Cathy kept the tour upbeat and engaging - cannot say that about my sneakers that did not make the trip home.
The next day, Cathy went the extra mile by making sure I made it to the airport and my flight chatting me Chinese phrases for both the taxi driver and check in counter to ensure if needed I would not miss my flight.
I would like to give a BIG "XIE XIE" to CATHY K - an outstanding tour guide (and food connoisseur)! I very much enjoyed my day (wishing I had longer) and look forward to my return and another China Tours tour with hopefully Cathy K again.

China is an amazing country to visit, and China Tours did an excellent job planning and arranging our itinerary. They handled all of the transportation and bookings for the hotels and sites. We went on the 12 day tour that included Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Guilin and Shanghai. At each location we had knowledgeable local guide and there was ample free time to explore on our own. The accommodations were all 4-5 stars hotels in great locations and excellent breakfast.

My family and I loved our recent private tour with China Tours! We started by working with Lora to plan our itinerary first. We let her know which cities we wanted to visit and what we wanted to see in each city. She was so responsive to my many questions and requests from providing information necessary to get our visas to making recommendations of when we should see the Terra Cotta soldiers based on our travel schedule to letting me know we were able to get entry tickets to see the Forbidden City. I felt very comfortable in a country where I didn't speak the language because Lora was always available to provide assistance. When we arrived in each location, the guides and drivers were fantastic. I was able to connect with each guide prior to reaching the destination and they were always waiting for us. The guides, Chas in Hong Kong, Helen in Xi'an and William in Beijing were fabulous!!! They were all so accommodating and helpful. They knew their cities well and made great food recommendations! Since we were on a private tour, they were very willing to make adjustments based on what we wanted to do or see when prior reservations were not required. There were two of us on our small group tour and the service was exceptional. Hotels were of a high standard and we were happy with them. All guides were enthusiastic and helpful, we only had to ask.

The small group tour of Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai organised by China Tours was a great way to see these 3 fantastic cities of China. Each of the local guides Nancy (Beijing), Elysha (Xi’an) and Lucy (Shanghai) were very friendly, knowledgeable and interesting and had a passion for their jobs. They were all super helpful answering any questions and offering advice and tips for navigating each city in our own free time, including recommendations for places to eat and other attractions to see not covered by the tour. All the main attractions and sites were visited with plenty of time spent at each. The main highlights for me were the Forbidden City and Great Wall (Nancy took us to a great part of the wall that was not overcrowded) in Beijing and the Terracotta Army in Xi’an (including meeting the farmer who made the discovery in the 1970’s). It was not a rushed tour and was also flexible. In Xi’an because of the weather the itinerary order was changed to suit the group. Being a small escorted tour meant that you were not just one of many in the usual large group tours which made it more personal and enjoyable. A special mention for Nancy and Elysha who made suggestions, with no hidden agenda, in Beijing and Xi’an respectively to see live shows as add-ons which turned out to be unexpected delights. Martha of China Tours was very easy to deal with and was patient with all my requests and queries when booking the tour. Overall I can highly recommend China Tours if you plan to visit China and wish to arrange a tour. From start to finish everyone was extremely helpful and communicated in very good English.

I can’t imagine a better way to see and experience Taiwan than this 9-day tour. Starting in Taipei and driving counterclockwise we went from the top to the farthest southern tip of the country and back. Hotels were much nicer than expected as were all of the locals we met along the way. As most travelers know, a few words in the local language are much appreciated so set your Google translate app to Traditional Chinese and say hello! Our tour leader Cathy was funny, smiley, organized, and felt like my 2nd mother as she constantly made sure I was all right and happy. The trip itinerary was varied and extensive (maybe a few too many temples but that’s my problem). Perhaps the most impressive was the coordination between our tour leader and the travel company when an issue arose as when an indigenous cultural site unexpectedly closed. Cathy arranged for us to attend a special performance of another group which turned out to be one of the many highlights of the tour.
This tour was excellent, a great introduction to an interesting country, a great value for the price. I highly recommend it. Oh, and try to get Cathy Lin as your guide; you won’t regret it.

Our 10 day tour with China Tours was an absolutely great experience. The hotels and transportation arrangements were great. We went to five cities, Beijing, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai. In each of those cities we had outstanding English speaking tour guides that were very knowledgeable and helpful. As I come to an end to my amazing and memorable 10day tour to this beautiful country. I have but only praise for this fabulous tour operator. All the ladies, Lora, Nancy, elysha, lucky were just brilliant and superb at their jobs from been super informative to been so punctual, to experiencing local culture and recommend spots to try out local Cuisines. We were a group of 3 in the no shopping stop tour. It was my first experience in a group and I got some wonderful friends for a lifetime. Everything so well taken care of by lord always available and very reliable. I would recommend Nancy for Beijing she is an excellent and wonderful guide suggesting amazing things to do in Beijing and experiencing the great wall. This was the tour of a lifetime! On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best, I rate China Tours 7!! Why would I rate this tour off the chart?
• The Silk Road bullet trains were beyond comprehension.
• The choice of a private tour was the right choice: expert commentary, attention to traveler needs and flexible schedules.
• ALL guides: Kevin, Helen, Amanda, Robin, Anna, Shelley and Susan were like “guardian angels”. Even our problems were turned into opportunities. BTW, their “English” was impeccable.
• Tour attractions were comprehensive and reflective of China’s history and culture. I particularly enjoyed the history of Chinese Communist Party in the Urumqui Museum.
• Bonus stops: local food in a number of locales, theatre productions, wine tasting at Chateaux Tuoling and marketplaces that reflected the “real” China.
• Drivers were the backbone of the tour, with safety and service as a hallmark. Vehicles were appropriate for the need.
• Hotels were first-rate, with the Novotel Peace in Beijing, Silk Road Hotel in Turpan and the Oasis Grand deserving of special commendation.
I can not imagine any tour in the future exceeding this one in terms of scope and benefits. When it is time to schedule our next trip to China, China Tours will have first right of refusal without reservation. And if friends or family want to see and experience China, my recommendation will be: Contact China Tours.

I did a 5 days 4 nights solo private tour trip with “Chinatours.com” to Beijing and Xi’an. I am really satisfied with the itinerary and flexibility of how “Chinatours” allows me to add and customize my trip.
A little hiccup, when I arrived at Xi’An high speed rail station from Beijing, my tour guide, Helen when to a different station to wait for me as they have two different rail station. Despite this, I felt her sincerity to welcome me in Xi’an whilst she kept apologizing.
Upon arriving at the hotel, guess what? The hotel gave me a free upgrade to a Suite. A whole Suite by myself！Awesome！Wish I had more time to stay in the hotel room though but my itinerary was packed. I arrived pretty late that night. Regardless, the room was decorated to give this ancient China historical ambience. It’s huge and clean. Hotel name is Grand Mecure on Renminbi Square. Breakfast included. Breakfast was alright, I had better breakfast choices in Beijing.
Next morning, Helen (tour guide) arrived early to the hotel to pick me up and start my trip. I managed to squeezed through the crowds and got an impressive view of the Terra-cotta army!
Wow!!! It’s a must to come to Xi An and look at this army yourself.
Helen (tour guide) treated me to a popular terracotta shaped chocolate ice cream. She said to make up for the hiccup last night.
I bought a history book that is all in English. If you love reading history I recommend to buy the book.
We had some thick wide noodles for lunch. It’s called “Biang Biang Mian”.
In the evening, I went to walk the ancient City Wall. Saw the bell tower and drum tower too. Then I had dinner at the mall nearby the hotel.
Final day at Xi’An, started with a beautiful weather, visited Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Xi’an Museum. I went to watched a 30 mins Tang Dynasty musical instrument show. I recommend only people who are really interested to know more about Chinese music to attend.
Then I went to Great Mosque and walked along Muslim street. Try a giant BBQ squid, it was alright. Had the crispy chinese croissant with minced pork and wanton soup for lunch. Delicious!
Overall, Helen really took care of my needs and I love her knowledge on the history of China and Xi’An. I almost forgot, both tour guides from Beijing and Xi’An are bilingual. They are fluent in English. I had a really great time in China and I am definitely visiting China again in the near future! Cheers!

Wow what can we say. we had a wonderful holiday in Cambodia and Vietnam recently. What an amazing experience it was. We all know how beautiful the two countries are. The private tour which was organized to us was top class. the tour guides , the lady who coordinated the tour , the hotels and the itinerary is five star all the way. Our China tour started at the end of December. We began our trip in Beijing, which was a bracing -12C when we arrived. We were met at the airport and would add that all pick-ups were on time each morning for tours, and at all stations or airports as well.
Our first day was free in Beijing, so we explored, following the tip to visit the National Museum which has amazing stuff on display (as did the Xi'an Shaanxi museum and Shanghai museum later in the trip). We found a great Peking Duck restaurant which was a short walk from the hotel. The queuing system was a case of organised chaos in such a small space, but the meal was well worth waiting for. Best duck ever!
William was our guide in Beijing, and our tour comprised 5 people including us. All the guides were very good, but William takes the star prize. He was interesting and informative, but also a laugh. The usual sights in Beijing were awesome and splendid, but the highlight was the Great Wall, as we expected. When we saw the Temple of Heaven, there is an area where people – or their mothers – have their CVs to find a marriage partner. One of the mothers took a shine to one of our party on behalf of her daughter, and when she discovered he was a lawyer, became very interested. The rest of us found this more amusing than he did!
The bullet train was a nice relaxing journey to Xi'an. Our party of 5 split on the second day as we went to different locations next, but we all saw the Terracotta Army, which is another “must see”. The wall at Xi'an is big enough and was getting decorated for the coming spring festival (year of the Rat), but after the Great Wall, was less impressive. We all enjoyed the market and had a lunch in the Muslim area which was great fun, followed by a ridiculously cheap group hotpot that evening involving much use of online translation on our phones!
The next day, Sally took over from Helen, and despite spending only part of a day with her, she was great. Having only two of us going around the Shaanxi museum, she was able to help us with anything we found interesting, going at our pace. We left on another bullet train to Chengdu.
The journey was shorter than before, and we met David, our guide. The next day was an early start to go to the Panda Base. What an amazing day! It was fabulous feeding pandas by hand and cleaning out their enclosures. The park has been designed brilliantly, so we also wandered to see other pandas (including cute red pandas). We were struck how lovely it was to be in a less built up space after our largely city based tours before. David had been to the Panda Base before, so knew what to do, and was a fantastic guide there.
Beijing had had clear blue skies and not at all polluted, contrary to what we had expected, but Xi'an and Chengdu were more polluted. This was the trade off going in winter, although this also meant that the tourist attractions were far less busy.
The next morning in Chengdu David took us to the Pavilion Park, where we sat drinking tea (green obviously) and learning Mahjong. We also managed to have our ears massaged and shoes cleaned, although the locals were most interested in our newly taught Mahjong prowess. It was a lovely way to while away a couple of hours and contributed to our stay in Chengdu being fondly very remembered. We went to the airport to fly to Shanghai.
Shanghai was about as different as anything could be to Xi'an, and even much of Beijing. It is as blingy and modern as Xi'an reflects the ancient part of the country. Our guide Hugo showed us parts of the different concessions in the city as well as the museum, but the Yuyuan Garden was lovely. Later we met up with two of our original tour group for cocktails at the rooftop bar of the Hyatt on the Bund, seeing the spectacular lights. We managed a return trip on the Maglev train which was a marvellous way to bring our China tour to an end.
In summary, the organisation was fantastic. Everything went as planned, and the guides were all very helpful and easy to talk to. The hotels were fine throughout, although in our case, we found the Chengdu hotel – which was the swankiest we stayed in – was less well placed to explore too much for places to eat, particularly as we arrived later in the day and had a long day at the Panda Base. Transportation was fine throughout, too. Bus, car, train and plane were all good.
We originally considered a private tour but went for a small group one at a lower price. This is well worth it in winter, as the group is unlikely to be even close to the 12 maximum. The mix of locations and sights was perfect for us. Prices of meals were similar or lower than we expected, so we spent less than we took with us.
There were so many highlights, so it is difficult to choose which pictures to show, but the attached is a very small sample from what was a truly wonderful holiday.

We are an Australian family who took the private tour from 24 December 2019 to 3 January 2020. China tours Co. had organized a meticulous tour for our family. Apart from the Shanghai stage, other stops were historic and memorable. The key attraction for China is her rich history. It would be very important that the tour guides must learn and comprehend Chinese History, not only PLA, Communist Revolution, or China Modernisation, Silk Road - One Belt - One Road, guests would be much more interested in her ancient history. Just imagine that when Qin Shi Huang connected the Great Wall to protect his newly formed dynasty - Qin, Jesus Christ was not even conceived yet, let alone the development and establishment of many great dynasties before his. Tour guides should treat this issue very carefully because of many tour guests who have studied Chinese History as their majors in High School and in University. They travel with two purposes, to see and to verify the historical records.

To avoid the misunderstanding, that could be interpreted as a deception, in the itinerary of the tour, the program details must be utterly succinct and concise, i.e. Day 1: Receive the tour guests from Airport and deliver guests to the prebooked hotel. Tour guide will briefly explain the tour to the guests. This is the first day of arrival, the tour manager would like to leave the guest a resting time for recovering after a long flight.
While Beijing and Xi'an stops were very well organized and rich history, the Gullin - Yangshuo and Shanghai stops were shallow. In Gullin - Yangshuo stop, if the tour guide were not as good and friendly, this stage would be very boring. We were very lucky to have Sue as a tour guide, she was so excellent in her English and her deep knowledge of China that shined the tour stop in a very different direction.
In Shanghai stop, I would expect the tour guide would lead us to the Shanghai historical museum where we would learn the bitter lessons of the 1930 - 1945 chaotic period in Chinese history, we were taking to the Parks which we could find them ourselves. Shanghai has so many historical monuments to attract international traveling guests, not the riverside where it showed the newly built highrise skyscrapers, we have seen them enough in New York, Singapore, or even in KL. We would like to know the history of Shanghai club, the details of the day when the Japanese planes dropped bombs over the city's residential areas, etc.
It would be very useful to prepare a china-tour booklet in advance, such that the details of the 2020 tours include detailed programs of the year i.e. how many stops of the tour, cities, historical locations, etc.

Very good: intensive (4 internal flights) but in this way we save a lot of time and we saw a lot of things.

Good and coherent with our request.
Only one remark regarding the Hotel in Bagan where the Hotel was good but with a poor bathroom (not coherent with the standard of the trip).
Viceversa the Hotel on the Inle Lake was spectacular.
Guides
All the guides were very kind, helpful and prepared.
Particularly the guides in Bagan and in Mandalay spoke an excellent English and were very cultured in order to give us a complete overview of the local culture.

This 35 day private tour through China was set up by Martha Fu and her team. The trip was more than unbelievably fantastic and if I could rate it a 10 I would! I had some very specific places I wanted to see that were the typical tourist attractions, but several that I read about that were off the tourist radar and amazing to go to. Martha spent about a year with me to customize every detail of this trip, which I kept adding and deleting. Originally it was set for 58 days so I ended up having to split it in two trips. In fact, I have already setup Part 2 for 2020 to finish what I have started.
Martha was incredible! I have traveled the world and this trip was tops!!! Martha and I discussed the best time to go and obviously avoiding the 70th Anniversary of the Republic of China Holiday week was a great idea due to the crowds, but yet, coming in at the end of this holiday, I was still able to see lots of celebratory flower displays everywhere, which was amazing. Martha helped me with everything so that this trip was smooth and memorable. She responded to my emails within 24 hours and if she was not available Lori or another teammate stepped in to answer all of my questions. This company is unbelievable!
Travelling solo was a concern, but not with this tour company. I felt very safe at all times. Every city I went to - from arriving by train or plane, I was met with an English speaking tour guide and a driver. All my guides (10 in total) spoke English well and were very attentive to my needs.

I had a wonderful time in HK and Beijing with my two great guides, Ricky Lam in HK, and lovely Nancy in Beijing. HK is stunning, especially its iconic harbor at night. A trip on the Star Ferry was a bucket list wish for me. I had only peripheral contact with the protests on my last day there on my own, but they did not hamper my time there in any way -- HK is HUGE! The view from the Peak was fantastic. And a special shout-out to the HK Museum of History, which is the best museum I've ever been to -- and I'm a museum person head-to-tail. High point in Beijing was the Great Wall (bucket list) and the beautiful Summer Palace. Nancy was lovely and accommodating. I could not have asked for two better guides. Only low point (and not the fault of anyone but my genetic makeup): The turbojet ferry from HK to Macau. Augh -- should be called the vomit comet!

From the start to the end of the tour, ChinaTours fulfilled their obligations. The tours guides were always waiting for us at the airport or hotel, and were very verse in their knowledge of the local community that we were visiting. Their english was more than sufficient, they were friendly, courteous and provided suggestions for lunch and dinner. We always felt comfortable around them. They made our transitions from one city to the next flawless.

We just returned from a wonderful 2 week trip to China with China Tours. My husband and I usually travel on our own but decided we didn’t want to do this in China. When I went to the China Tours website and saw we could travel with a private guide and driver we thought this was a perfect solution. We’re very glad we used this option-traveling in China and dealing with the crowds of people could we overwhelming.
China Tours made planning our trip very easy. They responded to all emails promptly. We picked one of their tours and made a few changes-adding a day in Beijing and Shanghai and requesting some specific sites.
The guides-Margery, Zoe, Angela, and Karl-were wonderful. Their English was excellent, they were very helpful, they were knowledgeable and interesting to talk to, and fun to be with. All added to our enjoyment of the trip and will be remembered fondly. They were sweet about bringing us snacks and always had water bottles in the car for us. Drivers did a great job in tough driving conditions.
When we got off the plane after a very long flight to Beijing we were very happy to find Margery waiting for us. We were also grateful for her help navigating the chaotic train station when we left. Our guide was waiting at each new location and helped us with connecting flights. We enjoyed all of the restaurants they took us to for lunch-many local places we would not have found on our own. The itinerary was excellent. We felt we had enough time at the sites we visited and were never rushed. We had time to wander on our own when we were done for the day, in the evening, and our last day in Shanghai. The hotels were very comfortable.
I highly recommend China Tours and hope to return and use them again some day

We have just returned from a 10 Day Tour of China which included all the major histororical attractions as well as a trip along the Yangtse River. The trip was excellent in terms of the quality of the attractions, the standard of accommodation and the organisation of China Tours and it's Guides.
Visiting Beijing, the Great Wall, the Terracotta Soldiers and a range of Temples and Mosques was a memorable experience.

Our small group (10 persons) tour of China was actually the expanded 15- day tour from Beijing to Shanghai. It was everything that China Tours had presented it to be in their marketing literature; and for that they get 5 Stars! Our guides in each city were completely fluent in English; nothing was ever "lost in translation." All of my communications with our tour coordinator (Martha) were answered promptly and thoroughly. Our group participants were always with us, especially at airports, rail stations and bus transfer points. This was really important for me since none of us spoke Chinese. Moreover, China Tours is able to customize your group tour to add or subtract cities and attractions. For example, three of us wanted to see the Giant Panda Bears in Chengdu, while others wanted to proceed to the Yangtze River Cruise. China Tours took care of this for us; no problems. I cannot recommend this tour company highly enough. And it was a great value in terms of cost per person!

China Tours has organised an exciting school China tour. Started with volunteering in Panda base in Chengdu, Sichuan, we covered all the famous attractions in Xi'an, Beijing and Shanghai before the Chinese National holiday. The local tour guides were knowledgeable about their home cities and guided us to try the most authentic local food. We worked out the possible itinerary before departure from Aussie land, Chinatours' guides were proactive in adjusting the itinerary so we could achieve the best experience in each place. Since it is a school language/education tour, they have also helped us arrange a local primary school visit and a field visit to a world-class IT company, which were the highlight of our trip. One of our students has Celiac disease, Chinatours' guides planned our meals with attention to every detail to communicate with local restaurants to keep the student safe for the whole journey. The tour guides in Chengdu, Xi'an and Shanghai had been exemplary. Whatever issue comes up, Chinatours guide and its office will work with us to provide a solution quickly and the tour then runs smoothly. China Tours' professional travel service has made our school's China trip yet another success. I will definitely recommend China Tours to other schools.

We did a 10 day tour in Beijing, X'ian and Chengdu which was organized by China Tours. We opted for a small group tour and was pleasantly surprised when we were told there were only 4 of us for this tour!
The tour itself was extremely well organized - enough time to see what we planned to see and were not rushed at all. Local guides and the drivers chosen at all three locations were just fantastic - very good local knowledge, helpful and courteous. Despite the fact that English was widely spoken we never felt that we were alone or lost thanks to the efforts of the guides. Many thanks to Smile, Linda and David - you guys rock.
The sites we visited were fantastic - although we did not think the Great Wall was such a big deal, when we got there we realized why it was so great! One just has to be there to feel the significance. X'ian is a must for anyone who is planning to go to China. And of course, the Panda research station experience (being a panda keeper for half a day) is a unique experience.
I hope China Tours will stick to their current format of small tours with great guides - we had a great 10 tour with them.

Had a fabulous time travelling to 4 cities in China for 11 days. China Tours took care of everything and tour went without a hitch and more than exceeded our expectation even before we started the tour, the company were very responsive to our wishes and prompt in their reply and recommendation. A couple of days before we left for the tour, the guides even introduced themselves.
Our first stop was Beijing. We were met by Nancy, So friendly and knowlegeable. She was a delight and took care of everything for us and were very accomodating to our request. From wanting a recommendation for a restaurant to live performances. My wife left her sunglasses near a township close to the great wall, a day before we were to depart for Xi'an. Nancy went out of her way to retrieve it for her and forwarded to our next destination after Xi'an. What better service could you ask for. She even accompanied us to the bullet train carriage and ensured we were alright!! Thankyou Nancy.
Our next stop was Xi'an.We were met by Gao. She was a fountain of historical knowledge. She explains it so well, my wife and I came away with wanting to know more of Chinese history as she brings history to life. She even threw in something special for us when we found ourselves having some free time before departing Xi'an for our next destination of Chengdu. Thankyou Gao.
In Chengdu, we were met by our good friend so was not organised by China Tours. Our next destination was Shanghai
In Shanghai, we were met by Warren, Friendly and experienced. He showed us the many wonderful sights of Shanghai and its history and even organised an evening river cruise for us. That was a memorable cruise because of the city skyline and the dazzling light shows on the buildings, Thanks Warren.
All in all, a great time was had by my family and I. Thanks China Tours for a great introduction to China. No doubt my family and I would be returning to China as there are still so many more places to visit and without hesitation would engage China Tours again.

Pre-booked flights, but decided after reading many reviews I may need assistance in visiting China. Needing to customise, I originally contacted a Well known UK company, but the last straw was on preferring an alternative hotel I was being asked to pay for their original choice as well even though not booked !!! Asked for a breakdown, and told “wu don’t give breakdowns” !!!
Chinatours.com seemed to be well reviewed. How glad I was from the start I was given friendly advice, and costs. Almost immediate answers and responses to changes in itinerary.
Arrived in China, and Jennifer in Beijing negotiating with soldiers at Tiananmen Square to let us in, she advised and then showed us how to use China’s ridiculously cheap underground. Cherry in Chongqing assisting us with our Air China lost baggage issue, and rescheduling a shopping tour so my wife could buy clothes for our Yangtze Cruise, and even helping with boarding problems on the ship.....best guide award 2019 for me. Victor in Yichang laid back yet circumventing the crowds at the Three Gorges Dam, he was definitely in the zone, and even argued his way past security at the railway station to make sure we knew what to do when boarding the train. All the drivers were fine, and the other guides spoke good English and punctual.
Dora was the one who organised our tour, we had phone numbers for everyone, advice on using Wechat, and the efforts to make our holiday a success continued right through.
We saved a substantial amount of money from our expected original tour providers, mind you that would not have been hard, and I would have no hesitation in recommending China Tours to anyone.

We had a 25 day trip around China. It was absolutely brilliantly managed by John and his team. Quick responds to emails, helpful advise and hints, friendly and patient. From getting the visa to the farewell at Shanghai it was conducted with efficiency punctuality and pride.
It’s been a real fine holiday to a fascinating country.

China Tours organised a fantastic 3 week tour for me and my partner. We were very clear about what we wanted to see and visit and even suggested certain hotels ourselves. But the organisation was both efficient and flexible, incorporating all our ideas. We had nine different guides and drivers to cover all our different destinations, and all were good and refreshingly open. There was just a hiccup at the outset - we were taken to the wrong hotel in Beijing! But China Tours responded straight away to the problem and made it right.

We did a 10 day tour in Beijing, X'ian and Chengdu which was organized by China Tours. We opted for a small group tour and was pleasantly surprised when we were told there were only 4 of us for this tour!
The tour itself was extremely well organized - enough time to see what we planned to see and were not rushed at all. Local guides and the drivers chosen at all three locations were just fantastic - very good local knowledge, helpful and courteous. Despite the fact that English was not widely spoken we never felt that we were alone or lost thanks to the efforts of the guides.
The sites we visited were fantastic - although we did not think the Great Wall was such a big deal, when we got there we realized why it was so great! One just has to be there to feel the significance. X'ian is a must for anyone who is planning to go to China. And of course, the Panda research station experience (being a panda keeper for half a day) is a unique experience.
I hope China Tours will stick to their current format of small tours with great guides - we had a great 10 tour with them.

We booked a 12 day trip to China with China Tours. We visited Beijing, Xi'an, Zhangjiajie And Shanghai. It was a small group tour, which we really liked.
We had a different guide in each city, Michael in Beijing, Helen in Xi'an, Ella in Zhangjiajie and John in Shanghai. All of them were really knowledgable and friendly.
They had great recommendations for restaurants and shows and they also helped
us to check in at the airports and train station.
We also want to say thank you to Ms. Wynn. She helped me with all my questions and concerns before the trip.

China Tours was awesome from start to finish! They are very responsive, always answered my emails promptly and were very efficient! We were met just as promised in both cities. Stayed at the Novotel Peace in Beijing and the Grand Mercure Renmin Square in Xi'an, both hotels were in great locations, amazing breakfasts with western and eastern options.
Our host in Beijing, Shirley, was very informative, friendly and fun! She helped us with the language and we got to eat in a local restaurant that wasn't touristy, she translated it all for us! What I also loved was that she would tell us about the sights we were seeing, then give us free time to walk around at our pace-just waited for us and we left when we were ready. We wanted to stop for a beer or something and no problem-they go at the pace you want! Much better than a group tour where you are stuck doing what the group wants! She also walked us into the train station in Beijing which is huge and SO crazy, we would have been lost! Took us right to where we would board the train which was a huge help!
Sally in Xi'an was also a great tour guide...so sweet and helpful! One thing I REALLY wanted to spend time seeing was the Terra Cotta Army and she never rushed us or made us feel like we had a schedule to keep to! She also helped with the language and found fun places for us to eat... I can't stress enough how wonderful this company is...traveling to China can be challenging due to the language barrier, they make it easy, relaxing and a real joy! I would use them again most definitely!

A day tour to tinamean square , forbidden city and the majestic wall was truly a wonderful experience . Kevin was an exceptional tour guide knowledgeable about sites as well as local history past and present. He was considerate to all 7 of us and showed us the best photo opportunities as well as acting as our photographer. He conducted the tour with charm, good humor and sprinkled us with some of his very own special Buddha wisdom . At the end he presented us with our names written in Chinese characters . We booked our trip to China based on the Tripadvisor review through chinatours.com. 2 weeks of tour in China were managed very well.The hotels were of Accor groups and we had good English speaking guides with very good knowledge of the Chinese history and Chinese culture in every location .They also helped us to check in at the airport and to order food at the restaurants. We started our trip from Shanghai with John ( our guide). Due to Typhoon, our flight to Zhangjajie got cancelled. At 7pm, we asked him to leave for the day as we had to book a hotel for the night .But he insisted that he would stay back n drop us to the hotel. Though John's duty was over after dropping us at the airport, he stayed with us till the time . He went out of his way to help us and to make us feel comfortable. We have just completed an exciting 2 week adventure in China which started in Beijing and ended in Shanghai. Our very first guide was Andy. He did the Beijing portion of our adventure. He was foremost a consummate professional and really set the tone for our trip. He was friendly, respectful, punctual and very knowledgeable about everything in Beijing, Chinese culture, history and philosophy, etc.He paid attention to all details and went out of his way to make sure we were getting the most of our trip. For example, our daughter who is an engineer wanted to see the CCTV Headquarters building,aka, Pair of Pants. He made sure we did. Our children needed Chinese cell phone chips. He made a phone call and next day we had them. My wife is blind and he understood that she also needed to touch objects when possible to get the most of experience. Andy was patient and allowed time and went out of his way for that to happen. We even stopped at a local Chinese restaurant he recommended where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. We cannot not say enough about Andy.
We will always remember our first trip to China with great fondness thanks in large part to Andy. We wish him and his family happiness, prosperity and good fortune.

China Tours arranges a wonderful 21 day tour of China for our family, We visited Beijing, Datong, PingYao,Xi'an, Lhasa (Tibet), Chengdu and Shanghia with a 3 day Yantze River Cruise for a little relaxation. Ms. Martha was very helpful with arranging all of the details. Every accomodation (hotels and transportation) was excellent ready for us. We chose the 4-star option and can't imagine needing a higher level of service.
Every guide (a different guide in each city) was friendly, knowledgable and always on time. We did not have to wait a single minute for a guide throughout the entire trip. The guides were also helpful in providing dining options and more importantly, assured that we seamlessly passed through security at train stations and airports.
The experiences (Great Wall, Hanging Temple, Terra Cotta Warriors, Yunggang Grotto to name a few) were everything we expected. Be ready for lots of walking !
We would certainly recommend China Tours to anyone.

Just visiting (and climbing 5 Towers of) the Great Wall of China would've made this trip unbelievable but throw in Terracotta Warriors, Baby Pandas, Ancient Temples & The Bund & it was MAGNIFICENT!! My only gripe was that the food on the Cruise Boat was really quite poor. All the Guides were fantastic giving their own little pieces of knowledge across, Rosie in Chengdu was particularly good. So enthusiastic & lovely. The hotels were wonderful! Got upgraded twice to suites :-) I would highly recommend using this company as it's got very VERY high standards.

10-days Beijing-Xi'an-Gulin-Shanghai: Every promise ChinaTours made they kept! They met me at airport at 1am with a smile and private comfortable car. They promised a tour group with no more than 12-people. Our tour group had a total of 7-people (perfect size) and the van was roomy, comfortable and climate controlled. The tour guide in Beijing was named King Kong and he was incredible. He was very knowledgable about "all things Beijing, Great Wall, Tiannamen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, etc" he also suggested GREAT authentic Chinese lunch venues for the group.
The train from Beijing to Xi'an was a 4.5 hour smooth comfortable bullet train. Our next guide, Helen was right there (smile on her face) on schedule, waiting at the train station with a roomy, comfortable,climate controlled van (plenty of room for 7-people). The terracotta warriors were amazing and Helen knew how to get us in the "side door" rather than wait in a long line. She also recommended great lunch venues.
The flight from Xi'an to Guilin was perfect and the Longji terraced rice paddies were unbelievable. Finally, John (another gem) was our tour guide in Shanghai. He personally put me on the bullet train from Shanghai to Beijing.
I choose 4-star hotels and all hotels that China Tours used were "Accor" hotels (very comfortable, clean and perfectly located.
I will return to China in 2020 and plan to use ChinaTours again!!

I had a wonderful time touring around the best known attractions in Beijing and Xi'an with China Tours. The company arranged great hotels, train tickets, and tickets to attractions to avoid delays waiting in lines. Guides are professional and always trying to make everything possible to pleased the tourists. This is my first time booking a tour, but I'm very pleased with their service. The first comment I would like to make is regarding the misnomer that our travel party was a group of "customers" or were treated as "customers." Our group consisted of an Aussie, a Kiwi-born Aussie, two generations of family from the Chinese enclave on Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island off the coast of Africa, a Hong Kong Mom, three young adult ABCs (American-Born Chinese) and a Sicilian-Cuban American Dad. From the moment we set foot on Chinese soil, we were greeted warmly by China Tours and were treated to kind hospitality by all. Our Guide in Beijing, Michael, has a knack and a talent for bringing "strangers" together and weaving them into a tapestry and creating the fabric of a strong family group. He accomplishes this through our communal meals and through our shared experiences together. We were then whisked off by bullet train to Xi'an, where we warmly greeted at Xi-an Station by Helen. In the days to follow, her knowledge of Chinese history and culture mesmerized us all. We were so impressed by her brilliance, her intelligence, and her grace and charm. We then proceeded on to the natural beauty of Zhangjiajie National Park, where "Super" Sarah guided us for the next two days. She hikes like the best, a truly seasoned veteran. Yet, she delicately held on to each one of us as we braved Heaven's Gate and Tianjin Mountain in the fog and during a brief rain storm. Our trip was capped off by a whirlwind tour of Shanghai with Karl the "Chinese Swede" as the leader of our pack. What a journey these ten days were. Thank you, China Tours for the memories, for the professionalism, and for the love and care shown to all of us.

We had two amazing tour guides. First Nancy showed us around Beijing which was amazing. Then Ms Gao showed us around Xi’an. They made the trip.
In Beijing Nancy was able to show us everything we wanted to see and more. She made sure we were able to get into the right places and stand in the spots to take great photos. Our time was free in the evening so she would research great places to eat. We were able to have some great local food.
In Xi’an Ms Gao was also amazing. She took us to see everything in Xi’an. So much history! She has so much passion for Chinese culture it made the three day tour amazing. She made sure we were able to really feel the history. My friends birthday was during our time there. She was able to have a cake delivered to the restaurant we were eating at. It meant a lot to us.
One last note. Martha at the office made sure everything was coordinated properly. We had no issues. It was a high culture low stress trip. The best kind.
Such amazing people. We will be back and definitely will book through China Tours!

I did a a lot of research into a tour company to prepare for a first trip to China with my brother and father. Eventually, I decided on China Tours, and I am very glad I did.
From the initial planning phase, the company was very responsive with emails and questions. Martha worked with my father to work out a trip during our time frame and to accommodate a side trip to Jinhua. Our guides were great (more on that below) and our accomodations were altogether terrific as well.
In an nutshell, our trip was amazing. While we signed up for a small group tour, it ended up just being the 3 of us on our trip so we thoroughly enjoyed our private tour. Since you spend so much time with them and almost become dependent on them, tours are largely made up by the tour guides, and I was so impressed by the ones we had during our stay. We were met promptly at every airport and train station by our guide who got us to our van and driver. The guides checked us in at every hotel, walked us as far as they could into every train station or airport, helped us find and order the local food at the best places to eat, and all around assisted us in every way they could to make our trip as easy and pleasant as possible. Each guide was so knowledgeable about the city we were in and made the history and culture of each locale come alive.
Thank you especially to Nancy in Beijing, Helen in Xi'an, and Rainbow in Hangzhou. Nancy was just what we needed upon arriving - kind, poised, relaxed, and very knowledgeable. Every day, Nancy led us with grace and kindness and really made our stay in Beijing special. In Hangzhou, Rainbow was a dynamo. Her ever-present smile and bubbly personality made our stay in this beautiful city that much more enjoyable. We made such a connection with them that we told them we hoped to see them again down the road in the future, either in China or when they visit the U.S.! My wife and I just completed the 15 Days China Highlights with Yangtze and Pandas organized by China Tours. We selected the private tour in order to have a little bit more flexibility on our schedule. It was an absolutely amazing trip in which we were able to experience a very comprehensive cross section of China, including visiting some of the main cities, some smaller towns and villages, as well as some of the wonderful beauties of this land. We also had an opportunity to get immersed into the extremely rich Chinese culture and history. It was a tremendous experience to be able to see and learn so much about Chinese civilization and its people. In general, we found the guides to be very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The accommodations were quite satisfactory. The itinerary and schedule were packed with activities and we think we would have liked to spend a little more time exploring some of the large cities on our own. My wife and I have done a good deal of traveling and we think that this China Tour is one of the most beautiful and memorable trips that we have completed so far.

Xi'an was our second stop after Beijing. I am a Chinese native but my husband is American and this was his first time to China. Hence we booked a tour as it seemed a great compromise in terms of language and convenience. At first I was quite apprehensive but China Tours delivers on every aspect, truly they do. We were never confused, never ever lost, told when to be back at what time, had plenty of free time after 4:30 pm to do our own activities. We had a lot of fun. In Xi'an, our tour guide was Helen and she has so much charisma. It was just a pleasure listening to her talk and seeing her appreciation for Chinese culture, which even for me, who has been to Xi'an before, was refreshing and new. Helen gave us the option to go to dinner with her and the group or do our own activities. She is very flexible, kind and considerate, not to mention funny. I would certainly use them again. You don't lose the Chinese flavor of things but you also maintain a western level of professionalism.

We were a group of three (71f, 75f and 73m) who took the small group tour with ChinaTours.com in May 2019. In short, the tour was well worth the price with one caveat. Here is what we liked:
1. COMMUNICATION - China tours communicated reasonably well through the pre-planning by email with very complete information and a good response to questions. During the trip there was a need to contact ChinaTours and the response was good.
2. SMALL GROUP - The group started out with 7 amiable members and half-way though reduced to 5 as two members went to other sites. We had a guide and driver at each city.
3. GUIDES - All guides were efficient, friendly and competent. English was understandable at all times. Three guides stood out: Shirley in Beijing was so kind and helpful even assisting getting a sim card for our cellphone In Guilin Tony went the extra mile to recover an item we left at the hotel. John in Beijing was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in getting travel arrangements.
4. SIGHTS - Two of us had been to China five times previously. One was a newbie. We all enjoyed seeing the main tourist sights and just as much enjoyed the high-speed train, van and air travel. We saw what many tourists do not see including a rural village, and the incredible madness of chinese construction projects. Some guides answered our political questions as well as normal tourist things.
5, FOOD AND ACCOMMODATIONS: The tour provided meals were all good in terms of quality and variety. The hotels were all high quality and clean. Location was good for all the hotels except in Shanghai where a taxi ride or metro was needed to get to the sights.
The one caveat is that the three of us are experienced travelers with one having visited 80 countries. Group tours require doing the group schedule and do not leave much time for creative exploring. We could not have seen everything we saw without the arrangements by ChinaTours, but a little more free time would have been nice.
All in all we would recommend this tour by ChinaTours.

Visited with my 35 year old daughter. Thought we were on a group tour but to our pleasant surprise we had exclusive use of guide and driver in each of the cities. China tours does not have a guide that travels with you throughout the trip. One guide driver team take you to the check-in desk (airports) or departure gate (high speed train) and the next is waiting for you at your destination. The system worked flawlessly with guide and driver always there to meet us at our destination. Signs in the airports, subway and railway stations are also in English and we had no problem navigating from check-in desk through security to the gate The guides were very helpful and really made each place come alive. The hotels they booked us in were new, or newly refurbished and of 4 Seasons quality with duvees, high tech bathrooms and a good selection for breakfast including western breakfast foods. My daughter has many food allergies and each of the guides explained this at length in the restaurants we visited.

Yes, China Tours is more expensive, but every penny is worth it!. Imagine.... picked up at the airport by your private guide. Personal driver in nice car. No standing in line after line to get on/off the bus. No following someone you can’t hear holding up a stick with a flag. Imagine telling that guide things “on the side” you want to see and having that happen. Imagine being the only non-locals at restaurants rather than stock meals with 60 other white folk. After having looked into several tour operators, I settled on Chinatours.com. They helped to put together a 16 day travel adventure starting in Beijing and progressing to Xi'an, Chengdu, Shanghai, Guilin, Yangshuo, and ending in Hong Kong with side trips to Macau.
We visited the Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors, Pandas, and many other attractions including a trip down the Li River
They scheduled all in country transportation, tours, and hotels. The guides were very good to excellent. They took care of transfers, shows, and anything that were arranged per the itinerary and made sure we were on the correct train or flight.They are professional and did exactly what they implied they would do.
I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who wishes a private or group tour in China and Hong Kong.

The trip exceeded our expectations. The country was beautiful and the history was fascinating. We were impressed with all of the accommodations on the trip. The tour was very informative and enjoyable with an outstanding knowledgeable guide who was #1. She knew about the history of Xi'an, both ancient and modern, and the Terra Cotta Warriors. She was helpful in directing us to specific locations we desired to go on our free time in the evening to connect with a friend, and even gave us her personal phone number so we could call in case we needed help during that time. She was a personable guide and enjoyable to talk to. We were glad to be met and dropped off at the train station, and hotel by all concerned staff. We felt secure in China as foreign travelers mostly due to our guide’s eagerness to make sure that we were well cared for in every aspect. Suggestions for restaurants and activities were useful to us. We enjoyed eating in the city with the local residents.

The program schedule was well designed to give you a good knowledge of the cities and country side with a good cruise to see amazing sites and relax when needed.
The planned schedule was fully executed. Guides, drivers and hotels where as offered, most exceptional. Some took their off time to check on you.
China is a country that must be visited and China Tours small group policy and no shopping stops makes your visit go a long way.
The administrative personnel you never meet are permanently at your service. Good job John, Carrie and others that arranged my multiple requests so fast, making it almost a tailored trip.

Great private tour, very skilful driver and thoughtful guide. Day one picked up from International Cruise Terminal (Boashan), we saw the sights of Shanghai, the Bund, Nanjing Road, Peoples Park, shanghai museum, and acrobatic show. Day two, Suzhou, Master of the Nets Garden, and Tongli Water Town. John, our consultant, worked with us to organize the tours according to our needs, the driver was very skilled, the car clean and roomy, our tour guide Jacki made sure he accommodated all our needs, the sightseeing pace very easy. Day three we were driven to Shanghai Pudong Int. airport, where our guide stayed with us until all formalities were completed. Highly recommend China Tours.

Here I want to give some credits to the office associates Martha and Carrie, and our tour guides for taking care of our family trip this time. Benny in Chengdu, Li-ping in Zhangjiajie and Tony in Guilin. Our family from San Francisco travelled to the above places for a week.
We stayed in Chengdu for a day only. The major task for Benny was to bring us to the panda base for that day. Benny was very knowledgeable and familiar with the panda base that we visited, so we could efficiently take short ways to visit more sites in couple hours. My son wanted to buy a Hwa-Wei new phone as a souvenir in China. Benny was very helpful to bring us to a nearby Hwa-Wei boutique, but the boutique sold out the newest model my son wanted. My son decided to buy a Xiao-Mi phone instead, so Benny brought us to a nearby Xiao-Mi boutique to get a phone my son wanted. Benny even reminded my son to get a screen protector, but the boutique sold out of it. Benny was again efficiently use our little time in Chengdu to bring us to buy a screen protector for my son’s new phone!
The guide in Zhangjiajie Li-Ping was great, too. Out of her own working hours, she brought us to visit Feng Huang Old Town night view. The night view of Feng Huang was one of the remarkable view I experienced so far! Li-Ping also explained very well for the Miao culture while we were in the tour van traveling to Feng Huang, so my son had great interests about the old town we were going to visit. On our request, Li-Ping brought us to two wonderful restaurants, which allowed our family to try many delicious local dishes in our short staying!
Tony’s a great tour guide, too. My daughter liked Tony the most because he spoke in a slower path of Chinese Mandarin, which allowed my daughter to understand better in the trip. My sister and husband are not fluent in English. My Children were born in the USA and we speak mainly Chinese Mandarin at home; therefore, their understanding about Chinese local culture is limited. My daughter specifically wanted to give extra credit to Tony because Tony’s bilingual explanation in the trip made her feel more motivated to learn about Chinese local culture.
The office associates Martha and Carrie were very kind whenever I contacted them. They would answer my questions in couple hours. In addition, because I am handicapped, they would try their best to plan a trip to accommodate my needs. For example, my needs to have hotel rooms close to the elevators, my needs to have bilingual tour guides, my needs to finish my trip in a week for traveling to many places our family members wanted to go....
Anyway, I just wanted to explain here why I rated ChinaTours 5-star. They provided excellent services to our journey! We will look for their further help for our future trips in China!

We had a wonderful vacation in China and the trip exceeded all of our expectations. It was truly an adventure for my wife and I to travel around to so many cities in China and know that the ChinaTours had every accommodation taken care of for us. The itineraries, excursions and sites that were selected by ChinaTours were perfect for experiencing the culture, history, landmarks and people of the region. By traveling via plane, bullet train, sleeper train, van, bus and taxi, we were able to really experience the many modes of transportation that China has to offer. Our tour guides were excellent and very knowledgeable about their respective city. The small group experience meant that we could take as long as we liked at a particular site as well as get to know the the other families that join you along the way.

Overall we can say that we had an excellent trip and that is for a big part because of ChinaTours. We travelled several times in Asia on the same concept (private tour driver/guide) and this was one of the best organised.
We could not recommend China Tours highly enough, our drivers, guides and hotels were amazing. Our tours were very well planned and we were given ample free time to explore the wonderful sites we visited. Our guides were very knowledgeable and only too happy to help make our holiday very special.

I used China Tours for a small group tour of Beijing the surrounding area (i.e. the Great Wall). From the initial contact where I inquired for information, their staff was very focused on making sure my questions were answered and even customized my tour to accommodate my work schedule. Not only did they arrange for the actual guided tour of my small group (there were six of us in all), but they handled the transportation to and from the airport, and even assisted me in finding the quickest and most appropriate path through the rather confusing Beijing airport when I departed.
Their tour guide (Jack) was very knowledgeable and easy to talk with, and made the journey through China very enjoyable. The food was amazing too - the restaurants Jack chose were priced very reasonably and offered an amazing selection of foods. The drivers were excellent too, gently navigating the crazy Beijing traffic. Everyone I met from China Tours were kind, friendly, and very helpful.
I cannot think of one negative thing or area upon which China Tours needs improving - I can assure you they are very good at what they do. I hope to return to China (I have the 10-year visa) and when I do I will make arrangements through China Tours again.
China Tours helped us plan and execute a private personalised 28 day tour across China. They were able to tailor the tour to our requests for several hiking trips during the 4 weeks.

We did also Shanghai, Guilin ,the Li river cruise is a must, the cruise on Yangtze river also was very relaxing with gorgeous scenery and Beijing ,each stop was fantastic.

I was able to custom made my circuit ,hotel, bullet trains, airlines, length of stay in each city without any problems with the help of Kote who always was answering in the next 24 hours.
We had 18 day tour with China Tours. Each stop was fantastic, from Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Shanghai, Suzhou , Wuzhen, Hangzhou. We had a private guide each stop & all were fantastic. Hotels were 5star, & guides recommended the best restaurants. We saw all the best tourist attractions but was glad of our guides to organise tickets etc. a must I think as not a lot of English was spoken. I organised this trip from Australia via email to the lovely Virginia from China Tours. I’m so glad we did this type of trip as we could tell them what time to pick us up each day when possible. We had a private tour covering Beijing, Xi'An and Shanghai. All three guides had a good command of English, and had an obvious set of knowledge about the local culture and history. We arranged the tour to have a free day for additional exploration on our own. I highly recommend doing that.
The spefic activities were well chosen to match our interests. All of our guides also took special care to adjust to the needs of this 85 year old traveler.
In addition to our guides we had great support from Wendy at the home office including changing our trains on short notice. I would use China Tours again without any doubt.
I was in China for my son and daughter in laws wedding celebrations for a week and I had limited time extra to tour. I had very specific dates in mind which my usual agent could not help with. I found China tours online and was a bit nervous not knowing anything about them. I gave my dates and requests for where I wanted to visit. Within a short period Wendy came back to me with a perfect itinerary. I caught a boat down the Yangtze from Yichang to Chonxing, caught the train to Chengdhu for the amazing pandas, train to Xi'an for the wall and the warriors then Beijing for 2 nights for all the usual attractions. I still was nervous paying a company I knew nothing about but the communications before, during and after settled my mind. All the guides and drivers were first class and attentive and punctual in picking me up from stations and the boat. They ensured I knew exactly where I had to go when tackling the trains and they became friends. I was travelling on my own yet it seemed like I had friends there. This was a private luxury trip for my husband and myself for our 20th anniversary to Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and Beijing and I had some unusual requests! Everyone spoke beautiful English and knew their city & history well and there was never a dull moment on our long drives. Visiting China has always been top of my adventure list so I wanted to see all the main sites and for it to be a holiday of a lifetime - this 14 day tour certainly made that happen! We visited Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin, cruise down River Li to Yangshuo, Chongqing then 3 night Yangtze River cruise to Yichang, finishing in Shanghai. At each place the lovely China Tours guides met us off the plane or train - they were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and we would have been completely lost without them as the language barrier is a problem! They were all great but especial thanks to Ginger in Guilin/Yangshuo who thought of everything and really went the extra mile to make our stay a happy one and John in Shanghai who gave up his own time to show us round parts of the city and how to use the subway on an afternoon when we had no formal sightseeing scheduled. Do bring extra cash to tip the guides, we hadn’t factored this in when ordering our currency.
The itinerary though full, worked perfectly. I was concerned I would find all the constant moving between places too much but the way it was organised meant there was free time as well as full on sightseeing days. As someone else has mentioned, the only thing I would change is to add another night in Shanghai as we only had 1 full day there and Shanghai is WONDERFUL! All the travel arrangements were seamless, the cars were all comfortable and air conditioned, the hotels were luxurious (and I am not a lover of hotels). I couldn’t imagine trying to do all this on your own, it just wouldn’t be possible to have the same experience. We had a mixture of small group tours and some time when it was just me and my daughter with the guide as people peeled off to do different itineraries. We met some great people!
I am so pleased we decided to include the Yangtze cruise as it was a chance to really kick back and relax after some of the busier days. I’d read mixed reviews of the boat we were on - Century Sun - but we found it clean, very comfortable, great food, lovely staff members and our cabin was huge! The initial booking and follow up communications with the China Tours office was extremely efficient. Especial thanks to Wynn who was always so prompt to respond and very helpful!

We did a group tour Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Guiliin, Shanghai absolutely brilliant Lora was our contact at their office and did a great job. Although it was a group tour you can chose your itinerary and we had another couple with us for Beijing and Xi'an the rest of the holiday it was just the two of us .... like VIP's with our own driver and guide. Cannot praise them enough :)

I went on this tour with my adult daughter and two friends (all from USA). There were five other people on the tour (3 from Australia, 2 from UK) that we did not know but ended up being friends with. We could not have had a better experience! The hotels were absolutely THE BEST...five stars without a doubt. The included breakfasts were totally incredible huge buffets of the most high quality, delicious food. In each city, our guide was there waiting and our private mini-bus was always there when needed. All guides - Andy in Beijing, Linda in Xi-an and John in Shanghai were wonderful. John, especially, went out of his way to show us how to use the subway - truly above and beyond as not strictly on this tour!
We travel a lot and by the end of the trip we added up how much it would have cost us to do this on our own (hotels, breakfasts, taxis to sites, entrance fees to sites, 1st class seats on bullet train, flight to Shanghai, not to mention private guides) and we came up with almost double the price!!! Plus a LOT more hassle.
Wendy at China Tours staff has been professional, efficient and helpful every step of the way. I recommend China Tours 100%!
My only piece of advice is - if you book this particular tour - add an extra day in Shanghai at the end of the tour. We really only had one full day there, which was packed with sites and tours, and we would have liked another day to explore on our own.

I think you get what you pay for. We wanted a private tour, with flexibility, with a guide who knew the history, in order to see as much as we could in 2 days. We got exactly that and we could therefore relax that things would be taken care of and we could just have a good time seeing the sites of Xi'an. Our guide, Cindy, also went out of her way to help us to eat local food, which was important to us. She took us to a restaurant she knew and also recommended a really good one for the evening. Our driver was extremely safe and reliable. Dora arranged it in advance with professionalism. I would definitely use Chinatours again to go to other places in China. Very high quality service.

We also had an issue regarding a double entry to China and Ellen gave us detailed information regarding that. I cannot stress enough what a fantastic company this is! Nothing was too much trouble! I wish all the companies I dealt with on a daily basis were like this!
Private tour Beijing 3 nights, Xi'an 2 nights and Shanghai 2 nights. Excellent! Always got prompt and courteous replies to emails by Carrie and Lora. Everything in China ran like clockwork - cannot beat being taken around with a private guide - the flexibility is wonderful. All 3 guides were very caring and looked after us well, especially Sophia in Xi-an. We chose the 5 star hotel option - it was great to retreat to the calm of the hotel after a busy day sightseeing and the breakfast buffet was extensive in each hotel.
We travelled via Beijing to Australia and New Zealand and took the opportunity to spend time in China both ways.
Having decided on our ‘complicated’ agenda, China Tours responded quickly and competitively. Whilst not providing our visas they assisted with requirements and letter of introduction.

Bottom line- Great tour. The booked all the transport within China, hotels, tickets etc. The guides got me to everything I wanted to see, explained the history and culture.
This was my first trip to China and I knew the language barrier here would be difficult to overcome. Also, the size of the country and distance traveled would require extensive logistical research. It was too much for me, so I contacted a few tour companies and ChinaTours responded right away. After looking at the provided tours, I realized my ideal locations were not available. I decided to book a private tour with the lowest level of hotel, to save on the cost. It was well worth it. I did everything I wanted at the pace I wanted. The hotels and included breakfast were above expectation. My coordinator, Wynn was very helpful with suggestions and changing my itinerary multiple times and providing updated costs. I was a bit nervous paying for an expensive private tour with a company I found online, but it all worked exactly as we'd discussed. The guides are all locals who speak excellent Chinese and English. They were always on time and often stayed with me to ensure my free time was well spent. They made recommendations and drew maps on where to go. I would not have been able to do half of this on my own. I've been to over 40 countries independently and realized to really see China, I needed help. ChinaTours took care of me and I highly recommend them to anyone.
This is the second year in a row that we used China Tours to arrange a private tour of China.
We selected a private tour as it fit our schedule and the Yangtze cruise schedule we wanted.
They were excellent again. It was a flawless tour. The guides and drivers promptly met us at all locations and were great.
Again, their Travel Consultant, Ms. Lora Li, was patient in answering all of my questions and concerns. She suggest some alternative locations for us. All train, plane, and cruise connections were expertly handled.
As mentioned above our guides were great. I will mention all from Bruce, Peter, Victor, Fiona, to Kiana.

We needed a tour that fitted with our school holidays and didn't require stops at shops to purchase jewelry,silk... China Tours based in Xi'an suited our needs as we found a tour doing Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai within our timeframe, which also allowed us to extend our stay at the end to go to Shanghai Disneyland. We began in Beijing for our 12 day highlight tour and took the 5* hotel option. This was the first time we ever took a tour, we are independent travelers in our 60s, but thought we needed guidance for China. We were met at each airport or train station with no problems, taken to our lovely hotels by each local guide. The day tours were just as expected, and our group was never more than 6 adults. Our guides knew lots about every stop and some were quite funny (Shirley in Beijing!) and very attentive. The breakfasts at each hotel were absolutely fantastic. We usually did not stop for lunch, just completed the day tour and enjoyed our free time for the rest of the afternoon or evening. The days were well paced. We were always aware of what to be ready for the next day. The hotels were all well located, we never had a problem finding a great restaurant within walking distance for dinner. We felt safe, the drivers were very cautious and the vans and cars were in very good condition. The tour was certainly a good value, and we saw all of the highlights we had hoped for. Communication with the staff was always prompt. Keep up the good work!
We had a great experience! Very organized tour. We loved the Accor Hotel chain they arranged fro us as well. All around a great experience for kids ages 5 and 8. China Tours also did a great job making sure activities were just right for our kids age group.Highly recommend!
The one day tour at Mutianyu with our guide Lilly was very well organized. Lilly took very good care of us and made the tour comfortable while a great cultural experience as well.

Thank you for organizing our tour! We really enjoyed ourselves from our arrival in Chongqing, on our Yangtze River Cruise and on our four night stay in Shanghai. Everything was extremely well arranged starting from our greeting at the airport and transport to our ship in Chongqing. Our accommodation on board the Century Paragon was perfect for the three of us and we will never forget the experience of the Three Gorges cruise and the interesting shore visits to Shibaozhai and the Goddess Stream. The meals on the ship were fantastic and we enjoyed meeting other passengers and the crew alike. Our visit to Yichang was an unexpected pleasure and we enjoyed a museum tour and city tour compliments of our local guide Jennifer. She brought us to the airport and facilitated our departure to Shanghai. In Shanghai, we greatly enjoyed the company of Darcy, our local guide, who provided excellent service on our city tour and visit to Tongli and Suzhou. He brought us to two local restaurants for our lunches and assisted in ordering delicious local dishes which were a real treat. Darcy also provided wonderful suggestions and tips on local transportation around Shanghai on our free day. Our departure was smooth from Shanghai. We will always treasure our good times in China after this tour.

He was able to get us the most wonderful seats at the last minute and we loved that. I think everyone would enjoy that show. It was spectacular.

A thoroughly memorable trip to beautiful China. We visited Xi'an, Chengdu and did a cruise down the Yangtze River, all of which was booked through China Tours. The tour was well organised by Candy based on everything we requested with excellent communication throughout the booking process. We travelled with our 18 month old daughter and her needs were taken into account from the start of the booking process up to our final day in China. Each guide was friendly, informative, knowledgeable and punctual. The hotels were all great (especially Sunrise on The Bund in Shanghai!). We would recommend China Tours to anybody looking for a stress-free way to experience all the wonderful things China has to offer.
From pre-planning to actual implemetation we found China Tours to be exceptional. In every location we were extremely pleased with the professionalism of our guides and courteous drivers. Due to last minute closures of major sites in Beijing, our request to supplement these changes by visiting local markets, a tea shop and the Lama Palace were handled flawlessly. We were greatly impressed by China Tours" handling of our onward travel (by train) to Shanghai due to our original flight ancellation. From start to finish any travel concerns were non-existent. We enjoyed our trip in its entirety. The one thing that might be addressed for future planning is the amount of food which was ordered at all the luncheons we had included in our tour. We were overwhelmed by the quantity and size of the dishes which were presented every day and much had to be left uneaten. The provision of two bottles of water per person every day was a much needed and greatly appreciated touch. It is our hope that China Tours will acknowledge and reward the wonderful guides we had on our travels and Candy in the office at Xi'an, who was timely in answering all our questions during the planning stages of our program, and re-organising the itinerary due to the last minute, unexpected changes.
From the initial booking process to all aspects of our tour we could not have been more satisfied. At every destination the guides were waiting for us with the vehicle and driver and dealt with us efficiently, courteously and professionally throughout. All the sights visited met our hopes and we were not disappointed in any of the cities, museums, countryside etc. visited. We were thrilled with our tour! "Angela" was so prompt in responding to every email we sent prior to the trip and covered every detail. She reminded us about the visa, something I completely forgot about. Our guides were very accommodating, attentive, spoke English well. Sally and Jennifer were the stand outs. We took the luxury tour. Our hotels were outstanding, breakfasts were so good, huge variety. The Yangtze cruise boat Victoria Jenna room was OK, not luxury as the hotels. Food was very plentiful and tasty. Luther was fabulous! China tours was most accommodating in adding to our itinerary by taking us to see Suzhou & Zhouzhuang. They made all the arrangements for our request to continue on to HongKong after the end of our tour in Shanghai. We are most happy to recommend to anyone we know or others who want a recommendation to use China Tours! We so enjoyed the experiences of being close to people in China, not on a big bus tour. My husband was able to have a shave from a local barber in Suzhou, an experience he could never have had on an organized tour. The silk factory in Suzhou was outstanding! I could not see the silk thread the weaver was using! What skill these women had and they let us be so close to their work. Our guide got us to the Great Wall later in the day when there were hardly any visitors. We had it all to ourselves, which was quite surprising, since every place was packed with tourists. I think our guide knew when the best time to visit would be for our optimal experience. YES, YES, we only have the highest comments to say. Thank you for a most wonderful trip to China.
It was an amazing experience! Starting with your help arranging the tour and giving me options for everything. Every guide was nice and we didn't have any problem with them. All of them were open to opinions on where to go and provided excellent options for lunch and diner. I am truly out of words, all the locations we visited had a unique feeling that was very appealing and wonderful! It was one of the best vacations I've ever had.
We enjoyed all the sights, especially the Great Wall, the Tarracotta Soldiers, and the lights at night in HK. We found the guides to be knowledgeable & the drivers to be skilled. I taught driver"s education in Michigan and would never attempt to drive in China. We especially liked Monica, Steven the river boat guide, and Helen in Xi'an. Everything that was within the tour companies control was top notch. All accommodations were as expected. We describe the trip as fun, yet tedious because of all the airplane travel. The extensive sitting in all the planes put my back in painful distress. In spite of it, I had a good time. and like I told my wife, laughing, maybe again in another 40 years, as the last time I was in China was 40 years ago when I was 19 and again at 21.
Have just returned home from our trip. We had a fabulous time, everything went exactly as planned. The accommodation was excellent, meals were fantastic, daily sightseeing was spectacular and our guides and drivers were tremendous. Each of our guides knew their city well and were well organised. Our trip up the Yangtze was relaxing and spectacular. We could not have asked for more. Thank you for your email. The trip was most interesting and the guides were wonderful, especially Vivian. For an overview visit to China, the itinerary was perfect even though it was a bit tiring. Seeing the country is 10 days is quite a challenge and there was always someone there to take care of us!
Kevin was friendly and knowledgeable, explaining in detail the rich history of Xi'an. Our idea of a private tour was to proceed at our own pace and make impromptu adjustments where plausible. We didn’t follow the planned itinerary exactly as planned but we didn’t miss out anything. For example, due to wet weather in the early part of the week, we went to Huangshan on the 3rd day instead of the 2nd day. The driver was good and friendly too. The vehicle was spacious, air-conditioning no problems what-so-ever. The a-la-carte meals were very good. I would say they exceeded my expectations! All 13 travelers were from fashion related industries and we booked through ChinaTours to get the most out of the short 8 day stay. We were all very happy with the bus and guide service provided by ChinaTours. The guides in both cities, Shanghai and Hangzhou were very knowledgeable, helpful and built a wonderful rapport with all travelers in the group. We would definitely book through this company again, and ideally seek out the same tour guides we were fortunate to have on this trip to learn more of the language, history and culture. Highlights were the fabric and trim markets and tailors in both cities, Linyin temple in Hangzhou, evening boat cruise in Shanghai, and spending time with our guides – Zhong Qui Liu and Yao Min Fang.

Review for Hohhot part Thank you for your email and for asking for our feedback. We had a wonderful time in Hohhot. The Naadam Festival was very interesting and the grasslands are beautiful, so much cooler than Beijing. The only complaint we have is that the food was not particularly good and the selection (choices) we had for food was very limited. We look forward to our trip to Guanzi and hope the food there will be better and that we will have a wider selection of food. Sincerely, Johnnie & Bob Review for Guilin part Hi Candy, Our trip to Guilin, Yangshuo and Ping An was quite a lot of fun. And yes, it did rain a lot, which created quite an adventure. The rain created a landslide on the one road that let vehicles in and out of Ping An. Because of this, our driver was stuck on the inside of the landslide, thus, we couldn't get out. So, we stayed an extra night, and figured out a way to get our bags and ourselves, out another way the next day. Another car came and got us, and got us back to Guilin, on schedule. It is because of all of this, that we cancelled going to Sanjiang. One thing I want to comment on about all of this was the great work of our guide, Marco. First of all, Marco"s English skills are excellent - much better than any other guide we have had to date in China - and that allowed all three of us to communicate very clearly about the situation of the blocked road, and figure out solutions, together. Marco listened to our ideas, and we listened to his. We were very happy to have been able to work together, with him, to figure out the best solution for us to get back to Guilin. I cannot begin to express our gratitude to Marco, and his office, for working very hard to create a positive experience for us, despite this unplanned occurrence. Marco was a complete professional throughout our time together and I was always confident in his abilities to get us where we needed to go. We are still travelling at present and I will answer this email when I am home and have enough time in about 2 days time. We had a fantastic trip in China and our guide, Tony, was brilliant. Everything went really well, better than expected. Tony, our guide was excellent. Always polite and considerate. He spoke really well and even understood our Aussie accent and jokes! He didn’t ever pressure us to buy goods or do shopping and was always helpful in making other arrangements if we didn’t want to do shopping. The driver and the vehicle were also excellent and were always in tip top condition.We felt very safe and privileged having such a good car and great driver. All the meals arranged by the tour were really good. We let Tony, our guide, select most of the dishes and he always did an excellent job as everything we had was delicious and of very good quality ingredients. We really enjoyed the meal on the Longji Terrace region, because it was such a surprise to get such a range of delicious home style cooked dishes with very fresh ingredients. The other meal we really enjoyed and was such a highlight of the trip was at the Yangshou cooking school, being taught how to create our own delicious dishes and we really enjoyed the whole experience. We received bottled water every day and was greatly appreciated. There were so many beautiful places we visited, we were truly impressed.
The trip was Great! Tour guide Freddy and driver are pleasant guys. Road condition from Yangshuo to Guilin was pretty bad. Aggravated by the car suspension not so good, it made the journey not as comfortable. Rebecca Zhang is very professional and efficient in handling my booking. I am impressed. Information were very clear. Tour guide Freddy is a nice guy. Both hotels in Guilin and Yangshuo were excellent.

Kelly did a great job as our tour guide. We had a wonderful time. Some time already passed after our trip to China. I have been very busy at work from the first day of coming back, but both of us, my husband and I, remember our trip with great fondness. We enjoyed every day during these two weeks. Special thanks to Lora, who helped a lot in organizing such an exiting tour for us! The guides in all places we visited were very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The drivers were also very good and we could trust that they would drive safely and they were always on time. The places we visited were wonderful, only the weather in the first week was not good, but this is something we can not influence. We certainly would like to visit China again. Absolutely fabulous thank you. We could not fault any part of the trip. The tour guides were fabulous and not one detail was missed. The accomodation was excellent in locations very close to the main areas. The food was incredible - a little too good... The time of year I thought may of been too cold - but the benefit was that there were no crowds. We bought thermal underwear, coats & boots in Shanghai and were well taken care of. Our most bitter time in the cold was in Beijing at Tiannamen Square. It all adds to the experience. We loved both Mr Darcy in Shanghai & Ninna in Beijing. They were fabulous. I would certainly travel with your company again. Thank you also for replying so promptly and politely to all my questions. We had no dramas - really enjoyed the fast bullet train from Shanghai to Beijing too. It's nice seeing the landscape & being with the locals.

My 10-day trip to China as terrific. The guide service was really excellent and every guide did a very good job making our trip amazing. I have never used a tour service before, but I must say that your guides and drivers made this a very memorable trip. They were courteous and very helpful in taking us to the right places and in helping us understand the culture. We especially liked that our guides were from the city we were in. They were obviously proud of their city and their insights were very much appreciated. The few hiccups along the way were expertly handled by the China Tour staff. Both myself and my daughter agreed that the trip would have been far less spectacular without your tour service. We really enjoyed our 12 day tour of China. Everything worked like clockwork, our guides were always waiting for us at each City, waiting to greet us with a friendly smile. They were always so helpful, friendly & informative, which made our trip so enjoyable, and an amazing & wonderful experience. We had a very nice visit to ZhangJiaJie. We were very happy to see such a gorgeous landscape! It is an amazing place! Our tour guide, Michelle, was friendly, flexible, and professional. She managed and arranged our trip to make the most out of it despite rainy weather and horrible crowds. Her restaurant, food, and cultural recommendations were spot on! Our China Tours trip to Dun Huang and Jiayuguan was very well organised. Our guide and driver were excellent and we saw world beating sites such as the Mogao Caves and Jiayuguan Fort that we would not have travelled to by ourselves. First, please allow me to say that we were very pleased with the experience we had with China Tours. Our experience with China Tours must begin with the online communication experience with the China Tours representative, Fay Gao. From the first contact, Fay responded promptly and courteously to all inquiries and concerns. She was completely up front about what the tour costs included and what was not included. She was helpful making recommendations about which attractions we would definitely want to see and what we might want to pass on. I had done a lot of research about our itinerary prior to contacting China Tours and they were very helpful in narrowing or expanding our stops based on their extensive experience. We actually contacted them following our arrival to arrange a last minute tour of the Great Wall that was a bit off the beaten path and they came through faultlessly. The guides and drivers of China Tours were very professional. The guides spoke the English language well and were very knowledgeable of the sites we visited. The guide we spent the most time with, Liu (Peter), was with us for 8 days. He always took the time to be certain we were where we were supposed to be on time, balanced our schedule with the appropriate amount of time at each site, and saw to it that we were checked into the accommodations and were taken care of prior to leaving us for the evening. All the guides made excellent recommendations for us about restaurants when we were on our own and made certain we had the necessary items we needed prior to leaving the hotels at the start of the day whether it was a passport for the day or the appropriate amount of water for our tours. Everything was effortless. The drivers were courteous and safe. They knew the rules of the road and although I had no idea what those rules were, the driver's navigated the system efficiently and with safety and skill. They were always there to meet us when we were completed with an attraction and helped us with luggage and doors. These are little things but go a long way to provide a value added service. I would do this again with China Tours and would highly recommend them to anyone planning a trip to China.

We are very grateful for the interesting and educational itinerary that was created with our input. Even more, thank you for all of your answers to our many many questions before our departure to China. Your answers were always immediate and well organized. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and conscientious. Each of them went out of their way to respond to our questions and special requests (like the dietary issues and laundry). They also allowed us to visit places that we wanted to see outside of the itinerary. The accommodations were modern and generally clean. The breakfast buffets at each hotel were impressive and had something for everyone. The restaurants in which we dined had excellent food. Our only joint minor criticism is that some of the dishes we ate in Beijing and Chengdu were a little repetitive such as in Beijing: sweet & sour pork and Kung Pao chicken and in Chengdu: mappo dofu. However, this is a small criticism. Our transportation on the large buses was very comfortable. Our bus drivers were skilled at handling the crazy traffic that we saw in all of the cities we visited.

The guides were friendly, attentive, had excellent knowledge, spoke excellent English, knew their history very well, and were able to tell us so many interesting and important facts. We loved all aspects of the tour: the famous and historical sites, the views, the history, the excellent guides, the excellent drivers, the flexibility of the guides and drivers, the Government shops for jade, pearls, silk, crystals and silk, the markets for free-time shopping, the hotels, and of course the wonderful food! We had a wonderful holiday and would very much like to thank all at China Tours for making it possible. All of our guides were brilliant and were great companions with their knowledge and above all their politeness, friendliness and willingness to help. Their contribution to our enjoyment of the holiday was enormous--we couldn't have done it without them. Our drivers were very reassuring, much admired their ability to finding their way around and getting through the traffic. All the guides and drivers were prompt and always there to meet us when we arrived. We had some lovely meals and our guides were always helpful in seeing to our needs. All the hotels we stayed at were very good -- with the exception of the City Hotel at Xi'an. The beds were a shade more firmer than we are used to --but all part of the experience. I enjoyed all the breakfasts that were served and the hotel staff were very frindly and helpful. Sufficient to say all met and some exceeded our expectations providing us with lasting memories. I very much wish to say how impressed I have been with the service you at China Tours gave us. I was a little anxious about booking with a foreign firm but all of these were put to rest when I saw your first representative waiting for us at our first stop (Zhangjiajie) a very welcome sight- and one that was repeated throuhout our stay. I would have no hessitation in recommending you to any other tourist and in visiting China.
After having travelled with you, we would highly recommend your company to anyone interested in visiting China. Everything was faultlessly arranged and the guides and hotels were excellent. The guide service was excellent with all guides very knowledgeable about the history of their area and all speaking very good to excellent English. They were all friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure all our needs were met. A special mention to Sandy (Beijing) Shelley (Chengdu) and Catherine (Guilin) all of whom we got on very well with and thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. Additional activities were suggested at times by our guides and we were happy to attend the ones that interested us. We were never pressured to go to places or buy items we did not want. All drivers were attentive and helpful and the cars clean, modern and air conditioned. All hotels had English speaking staff, were clean and friendly with exemplary service. The Hongzhu Shan Hotel at Emei mountain and the Crowne Plaza Hotel Ancient Town at Li Jiang were favourites. Both were beautiful surroundings, great facilities and well located. Bottled water was supplied daily in each location with the exception of Li Jiang but when we asked for water the guide immediately purchased supplies. We were overawed by the scenery and history of China and especially liked the Great Wall, Giant Budha at Leshian, the Long Li terraced fields and the Ancient town and Show spectacular at Li Jiang.
Our guides in every city were excellent. We understood them well, and they were all helpful and attentive to our needs. We were taken to about 2 official shopping venues in each place. Our guides checked before hand that it was ok to take us there, and there was never any pressure to buy. The guides we liked the best were Wuese from Lhasa, and Lisa from Xi’an. I think this was because they had a sense of fun, and also helped us bargain in the markets we went to when we were touring around. Our vehicles were comfortable, and our drivers patient and prompt in every place we visited. We loved experiencing all of the different meals and local dishes. All of the restaurants we went to were clean and served excellent food. Some standouts were the yak steak and vegetables we had in Lhasa, the dessert we had in Xi’an, that Lisa had recommended - it was a cream and mango filled dumpling served half frozen. All of the hotels were of excellent quality and very comfortable. The Beijing Marriot was a standout, as it was so huge and had such amazing decore. We kept having to take photos of the lobby! Our hotel that you arranged for our extra stay time in Shanghai was even better than the official tour one, and very near the French Quarter, so great for walking and shopping. We drank all our bottled water every day, as it was warm weather. It was a much appreciated and very comforting addition. We really enjoyed our trip!
My wife and I (65 years old) really enjoyed our 14 day tour of China. The tour was very well coordinated and we got all we paid for. The Tour guides were very informative and willing to go the extra mile. The cars (transport) provided was good as well as the drivers. We stayed in 5 star graded hotels and they all were great. The Yangtze river cruise (president 7) was good although the majority passengers were locals which made meal times and entertainment interesting. The cabins are 3 stars with good functioning showers. Overall we rate china tours 10/10 and would recommend to friends.
ChinaTours organized a splendid introduction to China for us, with a wonderful itinerary packed full of top sights. We enjoyed Beijing, the terracotta warriors in Xi"an, the pandas in Chengdu, a cruise on the Yangtze and Shanghai, and greatly appreciated explanations of local history and culture, the visits to museums and the opportunity to sample the local cuisine. The guides were very knowledgeable, personable, friendly, spoke excellent English and were very thoughtful of our personal needs and comfort. We were met at each location and escorted to the departure areas at the end of our time in each stop. This really helps when you are travelling in a country where many people do not speak our language. The places we visited were amazing. The Great Wall is incredible, as are the Terracotta Warriors and all the other major attractions people come to see. But walking through some of the Old Town areas of the big cities was also fascinating as you get to smell the street food and see some of the traditional ways things were done. Overall, we were very happy with the whole trip, from the planning stages right through to the final goodbye from Shanghai. You have helped us create some wonderful memories and we will never forget our time in China. Thank you so much for putting together such a wonderful itinerary. From start to finish China Tours were excellent to deal with. All guides we had were excellent and the hotels were of a high standard, especially the Crowne Plaza in Beijing, Sofitel in Sian and The Intercontinental in Shanghai. Lunch each day exceeded our expectations and the guides were more than helpful in translating the dishes. The daily attractions were well worth seeing and we were given adequate time to take in the sights. Any issues we had (namely with our flight out of Beijing and our hotel reservation in Shanghai) were sorted quickly and did not impact negatively on our overall impression of China Tours. We are happy to recommend China Tours to others and feel that China is a must see destination for all! From any organisational point of view, Rose was more than helpful - 5 *****. In terms of guides, we must single out Susan in Guilin who was exceptional, she was a joy to be with for our time while there and went over and above ensuring we had an amazing experience.
My situation was perhaps unusual in that I have a granddaughter living in Shanghai and whom I wanted to visit. She is a teacher so she has summers off from work and so I had a specific time period to go to china and visit. My discovery of China Tours and the customized variable tour it provides was wonderful and just what was needed. We were able to design a tour for just the six members of the family that allowed us to see everything we wanted in the time we had available. Our specialized tour included three cities, Shanghai, Xi'an and Beijing and all the sights we wanted to see and a few we didn't expect. Not expected in a city of twenty seven million people. Each city has a tour guide who is an expert in the history and culture and sights of that city. We were well taken care of. The food was excellent and tailored to our own taste and preferences. The transportation was comfortable, air conditioned and convenient. Although it was very hot in late July and early August, we had a great time and learned a lot about China and the Chinese people.
We had an absolutely wonderful time and ChinaTours.com did an Excellent job in all areas: answering questions to plan our trip, help in getting our Visas processed, making changes to our trip to accommodate our travel plans, tour guide quality and excellence in speaking English, vehicle and driver quality, courtesy and professionalism, quality of the places we visited/toured, etc. All our tour guides in every city were excellent, were very knowledgeable and always did their best to make our trip fabulous! We had a medical emergency and a lost traveler on our 8 day tour of Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai and the tour guides were very professional, calm and collected and did what they had to do to get the issues addressed quickly and with as little stress as possible (both issues had good outcomes, in large part due to the professionalism of our tour guides). Our trip highlights – the Great Wall and toboggan ride back down from the wall, The Terracotta Warriors, Biking the entire City Wall at Xi'an and the Bund in Shanghai. We toured in Late July and August and it was hot and humid everywhere we went (Shanghai was cooler (90F), but very humid, Xi"an was the hottest (106F) but not as humid) not the best time of year to tour, but we had little choice with a school-aged child. We still had a great time and the tour guides gave us plenty of water and tried to minimize our time outside. Even though it was hot, we all had a great time.

Exceptional... That is all I can say. Family of 4 (husband, wife and 2 kids ages 14 and 10) Visited Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai. All the hotels they booked for us were excellent and centrally located. Each day was planned such that we can enjoy site seeing without getting overwhelmed and still cover a lot of things. Our tour guides were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. All of them went out of their way to accommodate all our needs and make us feel at home. The one thing that we appreciated a lot was that each one of our guides made sure that we don't have any issues when we were transferring. Instead of just dropping us at the airport, they came all the way in and guided us to the right terminals, collected our boarding passes and took us all the way to security gates before saying good byes. To give you a couple of examples here, when we were transferring from Guilin to Shanghai the security line at the airport was unusually long. Catherine went ahead and spoke to a security officer to see if we could move thru an express lane to make sure that we catch our flight. Similarly, when we were leaving Shanghai, our initial flight from Shanghai to Seoul was delayed. We could have missed our connection home, but Maria spoke to the airline personal and efficiently switched us to another flight and took us all the way to the other terminal... making sure that we have no problems. This is what I call 7 Star Service. I will recommend Chinatours.com to all my friends.
We would like to thank all your staff for our trip to China. We could not have done it without you. I am a wheelchair user, but independent. Travelling in a wheelchair is difficult, but especially so in China. With the help of your guides and drivers I managed to see more of the sites than I thought I would. The food was great, apart from the restaurant we went to after visiting The Great Wall. The restaurant was not wheelchair accessible, but with Harry and Mr Wong the driver, they managed to carry me up the two steep flights of stairs. I appreciate their help.
Hi, thanks for organising the trip - it all went very well and we had an excellent time. We could not fault the trip - for us a tour of Xi'an, Guilin and Shanghai was perfect as we already had plans in Beijing as my partner was living there for 2 months. From meeting us at Beijing station to board the train to arrivals in Xi'an, Guilin and Shanghai - it was all managed very well and the local contact was on hand to escort us around. The tour guides were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help with our trip. The meals arranged were excellent and the sights we visited were the main places to go. Of course there are always other places you can visit with more time - this trip was a fast tour around and so there are always going to be places we missed. But maybe a couple of places we visited in our free time which are not to be missed are in Shanghai Jade Buddha temple and the view from a skyscraper in Shanghai - these were both excellent but were not on our tour. The hotels were very good and were of a high standard, not always right in the centre of the city but only a cheap taxi journey away in the evenings. Thanks for a wonderful trip and thank you for removing all the stress of organising it - you and the guides made it all run smoothly without any concerns.
Thank you very much for all of your assistance in planning a wonderful trip to China. All of our expectations were met and we had a fantastic time. All of the guides, Maggie, Michele and Tony were excellent. They were on time, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. All of the drivers were excellent and safe. All of the restaurants were exceptional except one near the Zhiangjiajie National Forest Park that I already discussed with Michele. It was great to have peace of mind that we would be met at the airports and train station upon arrival by competent tour guides. I would like to thank you personally for arranging the hotels. We particularly liked the location of our hotel in Beijing. In the hutongs was perfect with the local market street just outside our hotel was wonderful, giving us a wonderful look at morning and evening life of the local Chinese people. We do understand now some of the differences in the cultures related to various hotel accommodations. Our hotel in Wulingyuan Village had the hardest beds of our trip and we found in talking to other Western tourists all of the beds in the hotel were the same. But, our beds in Shanghai at the Grand Mercure were just like ours at home. Again, some cultural differences. Your consultation was excellent. Your advice of taking the Li River Cruise instead of the 5 hour walk became very appreciated since it rained the entire day on our cruise. Haha! We were able to take some fantastic photographs because of the cloudy conditions. I have attached some photos of our trip that you may use. Feel free to use any comments for your customers and you may use us as a reference for future customers. Thank you again for a wonderful trip. Since our visas are good for 1 year, we will probably plan another trip to China next year and will consider using China Tours to help in the planning again for that trip. We had an excellent trip to China. In Shanghai we saw the Metropolis China, In Guilin & Yangshuo the Picturesque China, in Xi’an the Historic China and then Beijing which had the most attractions and a mix of everything. I had been dealing with Rose Shi at ChinaTours.com for getting the tour arranged. I found her very patient, attentive and helpful in getting the right tour arranged for us because we made a few changes to what was on standard offer. The tour guides were all very informative, helpful and made sure we did not have any problems. The drivers were cooperative and their vehicles were clean, tidy and reliable. The hotels were very good too with good rooms and they all offered a good array of food for breakfast. My only gripe was in Shanghai and Xi’an where they wanted to charge us extra for breakfast for our kids. Must have been some communication error somewhere. Fortunately, our tour guides sorted it out for us. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
My parents have now returned to Iran. They have told me that they very much enjoyed their trip to China and spoke very highly of Chinatours. My husband and I went to China and decided to take a tour with ChinaTours. We went to Beijing and Shanghai and had an amazing time. Our guides were both very well informed, knowledgeable, spoke very good English and were willing to answer all our questions. I would definitely recommend people who travel to Asia to take a tour with ChinaTours because they organize everything for you and you don't have to worry about the issues that come with not speaking the language. They take very good care of you. I am a very picky-eater and even though the food was very different from what I am used to, there was always something I could eat and enjoy. In most cases our group (we were 13 people) could choose from a variety of dishes and recommendations and select the meals we preferred and share them. In Beijing our favorite part was hiking in the Great Wall, and in Xi'an our bike tour around the City Wall and the Terracotta Warriors. The tours start around 8am and finish around 5pm, our guides also provided us with the option to do other activities at night. We took advantage of this in Xi'an and for a low price we went to a Dumpling Feast (since that was my favorite food in China) and a Traditional Chinese Dancing and Music Show, which is definitely worth your time. We both fell in love with China, its beautiful people and culture. Thank you for Everything!

Both of our guides and drivers were great, the guides spoke very good English and their knowledge made the trip more interesting. It might help if you listed some “Fun” restaurants for dinner in the cities where your customers are staying. We found the “Golden Jaguar” in Beijing, we have never experienced anything like it before and absolutely loved it. We also found another restaurant in Shanghai off of Nanjing Road called “MIT Catering” and had one of the best meals of our trip. I have no problem recommending your services to anyone who asks. I too hope to use you In the future, our other son may end up teaching in Beijing like his older brother, next year, if so we will see you again!

China was absolutely amazing. I had the best experience with China Tours. I normally organise my own holidays, however, this time I was a solo traveller and wanted to make sure everything was smooth and safe. I organised the trip through an excellent travel consultant Lora Li who was always prompt with her email replies and made organising the trip very easy. The service provided by China Tours was exceptional. The tours guides in each city were knowledgeable, relatable and willing to go above and beyond. One tour guide in particular (Joe from Beijing) waited at the airport for 6 hours (from 2030 to 0230) whilst my international inbound flight was delayed. The tour guides assisted with the transfers between cities which made domestic travel very smooth. All the sites within the tour were interesting and worthwhile the visit. The hotels were all centrally located with excellent facilities, even though I had paid for 4 star, they felt more like 5 star hotels. The drivers in each city were very safe, assisted with luggage and always had cold water available! The tour had people from all over the world - two families, two couples and two other solo female travellers - with all age groups. I have made some life long friends through this tour. I cannot recommend China Tours enough to anyone thinking of travelling through China.
The tour was excellent! Rose did a great job handling the reservations and all the tour guides (Maggie, Chris, Lin and Jack) did an excellent job! I thought that Maggie especially did an amazing job in Beijing. She is an excellent tour guide and was a wonderful tour leader for the whole group. She was excellent at explaining everything and she gave a lot of great information. My 10 year old daughter Sonia loved her and it made the trip extra special. Chris in Xi'an was also great - high energy with lots of great information. Our time in Chengdu was more quiet as we didn't have a group but I thought Lin did a great job. We joined another group in Shanghai with Jack and that also worked out very well. The extra shows were also great (Acrobat show, Dumpling Dinner and Face Changing show). I think all the main sites were covered which is great. We were always on schedule and everything ran very smoothly. Thanks again.

Our China tour was entirely arranged on the internet between ourselves and our China Tours representative Martha. All our tour enquiries throughout the organisation stage were dealt with in a professional and efficient manner with updated itineraries constantly supplied. At each stage of our tour we were met at the airport or train station by our guide and driver. The tour guides were all well versed in English and local knowledge and drivers maintained clean comfortable and air conditioned vehicles. We were given ample time at each site that we visited and guides were flexible enough to make adjustments on request, the daily lunch stops were carefully chosen and were a delight of Chinese cuisine at its best. The organisation appears to be a well oiled machine and the tour was well co-ordinated with no hold ups throughout the trip. We elected to take the China Tours boutique hotels option in Xi'an, Guiling and Chengdu and this turned out to be an excellent choice, these themed hotels were not only an excellent option but also provided an insight into traditional Chinese architecture and culture and are all highly recommended. The choice of modern western style hotels in the other centres was also of a high standard. China Tours is a highly recommended choice for organising a tour of China and we thank them for a wonderful and memorable trip.

I had a great time on my trip. Everything was very organized. The tour guides were locals but they spoke excellent English. The restaurants we went to were great and there was always a lot of food left over. I really liked the fact that we spent our time sightseeing and not wasting time on shopping stops like some other tours. I would highly recommend China Tours.

We were very pleased with the service we received. We were appreciative of Ms Laura in Beijing because we did not want to stop at the jade factory because it would take time away from the Great Wall. We really enjoyed Ms. Laura in Beijing and Chris in Xi'an. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and have a good time. Ms. Laura in Beijing and Nick in Guilin gave us suggestions for extra things to do in the evening which were very welcome. All of the guides were very courteous. The car in Beijing did not have a seat belt on the passenger side otherwise all vehicles were very comfortable and clean. All drivers were very courteous. Our driver in Xi'an was excellent has he had to drive over some very rough roads to get to Foping. All meals were very good. The best was the Peking duck in Beijing and the dumpling banquet in Xi'an. The lunch in the local home in Beijing was also a very good experience. The hotels were excellent. The only exception was the hotel in Foping which was very rough. The lobby was very nice, but the room itself was not. Our guide, Chris, knew this and prepared us for it. He also made sure we had something for breakfast during the stay in Foping. We had plenty of water daily and it was appreciated. We were overall very pleased with the value we received for our tour through China.

All the services from China Tours were more than satisfactory. It would have been stressful to try to navigate our way across China without the help of our expert guides who met us at airports, train stations and cruise ships on every step of our journey from Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing, and on to Shanghai. Lora Li was our wonderful advance travel consultant who tailored our trip to coincide with meeting our son in Beijing to join in a two-week trip providing an overview of beautiful mainland China, and she also arranged an extension for a short visit to Hong Kong. All Hotel accommodations were nice.
Our trip to China in May 2015 was wonderful. Thank you, Candy Tang, for your prompt emails and replies to our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed all the places we visited. The guides (Maggie/Beijing, Helen/Xi"an, Katherine/Guilin, Sunny/Chongqing, Kelly/Yichang, and Leo/Shanghai) were excellent, knowledgeable and helpful. All travel within China went smoothly and the guides' assistance was greatly appreciated. The hotels were excellent and their breakfast buffets were extensive and catered to a variety of tastes. Lunches, which were all Chinese cuisine, were good and food was plentiful. Activities included in the itinerary were interesting especially the visit to the tea plantation and tea ceremony. The evenings were free for travelers to dine and explore on their own, or participate in a visit to a theater recommended and organized by the guides. We especially enjoyed the dumpling banquet in Xi"an and the acrobatic show in Shanghai. Due to low water level on the Yangtze River, the first leg of the cruise was by bus from Chongqing to Fengdu. The cruise was comfortable and enjoyable, especially the excursion on the Shannong Stream.
We have just completed a fantastic 2 week trip with China Tours.com. All aspects of our tour were excellent. We appreciated the great variety of experiences and activities and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. China is an amazing place. Every guide we had was excellent. Their care and attention to each traveller, organisation, flexibility, knowledge, English and ability to relate to each member of the group was outstanding. Each guide was different in age, gender and background and we greatly appreciated their generosity in sharing some of their life experiences with us as this gave us a greater understanding of life in China. We enjoyed the huge choice of breakfast dishes and the mix of Chinese and Western food. Lunches were fantastic too. Each restaurant was different and interesting and the food was delicious and each time different. Our guides were most helpful in assisting us to choose a range of dishes to suit the group’s individual preferences. Chinese food is soooo different to most of the Chinese food we have in Australia –so much better. Our hotels were all excellent-some outstanding. We choose the 5 star option and highly recommend this. The hotels were conveniently cited so that in the evening, when we had free time, we could stroll around the local area and get something for dinner and enjoy the night life. Western restaurants were usually nearby and we often had a snack in the hotel cafés as we weren’t very hungry after the huge breakfasts and lunches. We really enjoyed this opportunity to explore on our own or just relax in our superb accommodation. We highly recommend the Yangtze cruise. This was a relaxing and enjoyable trip with interesting daily land excursions. The boat was very comfortable and our fellow travellers friendly and easy to travel with. There were 80 Chinese and 20 Westerners on board – the ship can accommodate 180 people. The crew looked after us very well and gave extra and special attention to the Westerners. We recommend the hair wash and dry. It includes an amazing massage. You can also have a full body massage or do Tai Chi or sit on your balcony, or go on deck, to enjoy the scenery and river life. The Li River boat trip was wonderful –the scenery was amazing. The food is bland but fine. The staff specially kept food aside for us which was very thoughtful – a thoughtfulness that we commonly experienced throughout our trip. The ‘Impressions Show’ at Yangshou was incredible as is the acrobat show in Beijing. The area of the Great Wall that China Tours,com goes to is far, far better than the crowded section visited by most other companies. There were few people, and The Wall was in excellent condition. The views were amazing. We loved visiting the local family in a village and the family in the Hutons in Beijing – things other companies may not do. So many highlights, so many amazing experiences. It is impossible to mention all of them. We congratulate ChinaTours.com on their flawless organisation, attention to detail and their obvious aim to continually improve on each aspect of their operation. Our travel consultant, Rose Shi made the booking process a pleasure. Her response to questions and requests was always quick and professional. We appreciated her contacting us and offering us the opportunity of catching the G train as an alternative to the flight from Beijing to Xi'an. Our holiday plans were very well organized and managed. We appreciated the travel tips prior to leaving home and the recommendations on tipping our guides and drivers . A special thank you to Rose Shi! Our English speaking guides, Andy ,Cathy, Meiling, Jerry and Jack were all very polite, punctual and extremely knowledgeable, as well as amusing. They sometimes made jokes about their "Chinglish" but their English was well spoken. The drivers amazed me with their skills and patience in the busy cities. Even on our last transfer from Shanghai our driver and guide were waiting in reception at least 15 minutes prior to the arranged time so there were no anxious moments wondering if we would make our flight in time . At each airport it was easy to meet with our guides. We chose the 5 star option on accommodation and every hotel was up to expectation and the locations were good (maybe the Sheraton Guilin is getting a bit tired but was ok.) These days most guests want internet access and some hotels charge excessively. If you are a member of the hotel group it is free. Perhaps the tour guides could suggest to their guests to join up on arrival at reception- it only takes a minute and costs nothing. All the included meals were good except in Shanghai (25th May) where the lunch was almost inedible (cold) and the service non existent. There was wedding in progress which meant the other guests were ignored. We would happily recommend China Tours to any future customers. We really appreciated being offered the opportunity of catching the G Train from Beijing to Xi'an. It added a new dimension to our travel experience. Andy our guide was very helpful in guiding us through the crowds at Beijing train station and into the waiting room prior to boarding the train. It may be advisable to let future travellers know that suitcases can not be stored overhead but there is an area behind the first seats in each carriage to store bags. We were informed it was a non stop train to Xi'an but it actually did stop once. We knew it was a 4 hour trip so knew not to get off ,but other passengers in future may not be as wise. Let them know the approximate arrival time in Xi'an. Our guide was there to meet us so the trip went very smoothly and it was much better than a flight as we saw some of the countryside on the way. Just want to say thank you for All your help in organising our wonderful trip. We had a fantastic time and would definitely look at doing another tour with your company. Everything from the wonderful guides - Amy (Beijing), Helen (Xi'an) and Darcy (Shanghai) to the lovely range of food, the exceptional hotels and the tourist sites was perfect. Our tour group all got along really well too and we had so many laughs. I was glad that the tour guides were flexible on the tours and were able to rearrange places we visited to maximise our time and avoid unnecessary time in traffic or backtracking across the cities. Unfortunately we had to spend an extra couple of nights in Shanghai due to a typhoon and again China tours were wonderful in helping us. Thanks go to Fay for her contact and help in organising the extra 2 nights accommodation for us. Also one other thing our tour group would have loved is that the tour guides join us for the lunches each day. We would have loved to have informal chats with our guides and find out more about them and their country. Once again, thank you for all your help. With three children of 15, 13 and 10 years old we decided to visit China for the first time in our lives. From the first moment we contacted them we received the pertinent information, answer to our concerns, tips for the trip, help, etc. We spent 4 days in Beijing, 2 in Xi'an and 2 in Shanghai. The experience was wonderful. The staff at China Tours was super efficient and professional. They provided everything for us to enjoy 100%. I was lucky to celebrate my birthday walking through the Great Wall of China. China tours surprised me with a birthday cake that was waiting for me at the hotel. We returned in awe of everything we saw in Beijing, the Great Wall, The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, The Summer Palace, all under a celestial sky, very cold but sunny. Every change of city we were accompanied by the guides until our boarding. In Xi'an we learned a lot about the history of the different dynasties. Our guide was passionate about these issues and shared very interesting information. The Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses and the Xi'an Museum are must go. We also enjoyed the bike ride through the Xi'an City Wall, 13 km you can easily make. Shanghai was wonderful, the contrast between the modern and the old is striking. In short, we came back delighted with both China and China tours. Thank you very much to Helen in Beijing, Helen in Xi'an and William in Shanghai. Thank you for helping us make this first trip to China a beautiful family memory.

Overall, I thought China Tours did a great job. The guides were all very good (Maggie was amazing!). The places we were taken were very interesting; the restaurants excellent; my hotels were perfect. The only complaint I have is that I didn't stay longer. The group I traveled with were a delight. We all got along very nicely and plan to stay together. On Saturday night in Xi'an, we all went out for dinner together at a local restaurant. Though we missed our guide to translate for us, we had a memorable evening. I have enclosed a picture of a few of us after we climbed to one of the peaks of The Great Wall (an unforgettable day!) Thank you for all your kindness and assistance. I have already spoken highly to many friends in the states of your company and strongly encouraged them to use China Tours when they travel to your country. Tours of souvenir shops was satisfactory and we did not feel pressured to buy anything from the shops. All the drivers were competent drivers and we feel confident of their driving. All tour vehicle were cleaned and equipped wiith air conditioners. They were patient too. Thanks to them. All the meals were satisfactory for group tour type of meal. Though nothing fanciful but acceptable. Both the Beijing and Shanghai hotels were very good. We all like them. Xi'an hotel was nice except that we have to pay for the internet access in the room which is a disappointment Yes, very much so. They were generous with the supply of mineral water in the bus. No complain here.

Very wonderful trip and well organized. Even the 4 star hotels seemed like 5 star to me. The weather was very humid for May. Andy in Beijing was fantastic. Cathy in Xi'an was incredible. I have rarely met someone as caring as her. Meiling in Guilin was also very sweet and caring. Both flights in and out of Shanghai were delayed, due to heavy air traffic. The train from Beijing to Xi'an was first class. Perhaps a different hotel could be selected for Guilin. The hotel was very nice, however the location was not within walking distance of sites and other restaurants in the city. I know the biggest concern I had was not knowing if someone would be there at the airport to pick me up. I can assure other clients they have no worries.
Choosing from three tour organizers, I was very happy that I chose Chinatours. What really got me was the quick reply from Ms. Rose Shi and the itinerary that she presented. You offered the most interesting places to visit. Up to the time before I departed for the trip, all information and paperwork was efficiently handled by Rose. She was on top of everything! We have just finished a two week private tour of China assisted by your wonderful guides and drivers who were organized by China Tours, to say we were impressed with their service would be an understatement, they were all brilliant. Jun in Beijing, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and The Great Wall, the sights were amazing as was Jun's warm smile and lovely nature. Siyi in Xi'an, great knowledge of the Terracotta Warriors the Great Mosque and History Museum, also thanks for explaining the Chinese family structure and work / life balance. Jerry in Chonqing, our plane was three hours late but he waited with a snack and drink at the airport, what a great bloke, big smiles late into the long bus trip, shame we did not have more time together. Jacky in Yichang, thanks for the quick tour of your City, your passion for the place rubs off on those who visit. Finally Autumn in Shanghai, Autumn made us feel like we were touring with an old friend, every day was fun and relaxed with a dose of history and local food thrown in, loved every minute spent with her. Finally, many thanks to the many drivers, we felt safe on every commute and they patiently waited at our beck and call while we traipsed around the place, their courteous nature will be remembered. Our whole trip exceeded our expectations, everything ran like clockwork, followed the schedule, was flexible, value for money and an amazing experience. ChinaTours provided excellent guides and an itinerary that fit our interests exactly. We loved that our group was small, always between 2 and 8 people. The company also managed to deal expertly with the complications presented when one of the airports shut down due to fog. Our guide quickly found a flight from another city and accompanied us on a high-speed train all the way to the new airport, where he bought our new tickets and made arrangements for the next guide to meet us at the other end of the flight. We stayed on schedule for our next day's activities.

All questions and requests were dealt with promptly until we were satisfied. You couldn't ask for more. Our guides cared for us like family, flexible to our needs, excellent knowledge of their countries history and fluent in English. We extended our value packed 11 day "Odyssey of the Yangtze" tour itinerary with extra nights in Beijing and Shanghai choosing CT's suggested hotels and were very happy with the 4/5 star standard. Beijing’s Mercure was a bit out of the way for walking tours but taxi fees were only $5/10 per trip to anywhere. Our "3 x adults" family required an extra bed in our double room and all were roomy enough. The cruise ship President No.7’s room was a little too cosy though so we took the option of a $150 upgrade for a larger cabin. Well worth the extra $. I suggest taking advantage of the $50/ cabin unlimited laundry service offer for the entire cruise, too. This service was exceptional. I even got to review the Medical staff on board, too, after being stung on the ear by a whopping big china wasp. Besides suffering a burning hot ear for the rest of the trip I now have a great dinner party story, with pictures to add to our China experience. Service from everyone involved with our tour was fabulous. We couldn"t fault any of the hotel staff and the food was delicious and fabulous. Adding spectacular scenery and the best presentation of China"s captivating history by the CT guides guaranteed us great memories that will last a lifetime. Highlights’ were the wall climb in Mutianyu. We took the challenging option up the steep end and road the luge back down. Great fun- wish we packed the GoPro. Take the bike trip option on the Xi'an Wall. It should only take 45 mins with a bit of effort to do the round trip. A bit hard on the butt though. I"m so pleased we took extra time to see Shanghai. You could spend a week there & still need more time. I highly recommend China Tours.com. Our holiday was amazing!
