Macau

Over five incredible days, enjoy the excitement, sounds, and sights of Hong Kong and Macau when you travel on this fully guided private tour. Grab your bucket list and start crossing off the Hong Kong highlights: Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, Stanley Market, Aberdeen Fishing Village, and more. Enjoy a taste of old-world Hong Kong with time spent at Nam Pak Hong

and Hollywood Road. Tick off your bucket list of a ride across Victoria Harbor on an iconic Star Ferry. A trip to Lantau Island for Po Lin Monastery and Big Buddha shows you a completely different Hong Kong. Travel in total comfort and marvel at the design, technology and innovation of the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge, the longest cross-sea bridge in the world before arriving in Macau, once home to Portuguese colonists and those on a mission to convert. Marvel at the extent of European influences which are evident in the Ruins of St Paul’s Cathedral and Senado Square and appreciate the history to be found at A-MA Temple, thought to be the inspiration for Macau’s name. Inclusive of four nights accommodation, daily breakfasts, all transfers, sight entry fees as specified, a knowledgeable English speaking guide, and the option to add on travel anywhere else in China, this the ideal tour for the adventurer wanting to immerse themselves in the dynamic energy of Hong Kong and Macau. Book it today!

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Hong Kong

Your guide will be waiting at the airport with a welcoming sign and then take you to the pre-booked hotel. Together you will make your way to the hotel for check in, while on the way taking in the sights and sounds of this cosmopolitan city which is vastly different from anywhere else in China. Take the rest of the day to rest, relax or explore in advance of tomorrow’s full itinerary. Remember to speak with your guide for advice on local sights and dining options. They will be able to assist and even help with ordering if necessary.

Meals included: None

Note: Make the most of your first night in Hong Kong by enjoying one of the many Hong Kong evening highlights, including a wander through Temple Street night market, a taste of Hong Kong nightlife at Lan Kwai Fong, a bird’s eye view of Hong Kong at night when you visit Victoria Peak, or a chance to watch A Symphony of Lights on Victoria Harbor. For an additional charge, we can arrange bookings for these activities – or any others you’d love to experience while on tour with us.

Day 2 – Hong Kong City tour

Today’s exploration begins when you are collected from the hotel and venture to Victoria Peak. Here you will ascend the hill via the Peak Tram and step onto the breathtaking Sky Terrace 428. Commonly regarded as the highest point in Hong Kong, Victoria Peak offers visitors wonderful panoramic views of the entire city. Capture incredible photographic memories here.

Journey on to Repulse Bay, a typical Hong Kong beach that is now famous for its eye-wateringly priced real estate – reputed to be the most expensive in Hong Kong. After soaking in the vibe of the bay, you’ll be transported to Stanley Market, the quintessential Hong Kong street market. Known for its collection of typically Chinese curios, collectibles and souvenirs, you’ll have the opportunity to make a purchase or two without the hassle of haggling. Having worked up an appetite through the morning’s activities, you’ll have the chance to savor some of Hong Kong’s finest seafood at Aberdeen Fishing Village.

A short stop for lunch of your own choice is followed by a Hong Kong must-do – a Sampan ride that provides a taste of life in Aberdeen. From here you will be transferred to the Western end of Hong Kong Island to explore Nam Pak Hong. Famously regarded as one the oldest neighborhoods in Hong Kong, Nam Pak Hong, which translates as ‘South and North traders’, is a local institution. Learn about the original industrious and community-minded traders and merchants who created the business and nurtured the community in Sheung Wan. A center of import and export trade between China, Southeast Asia, and beyond, the surrounding streets are identified as Nam Pak Hong street, rather than being recognized by individual names. You will have a chance to wander through this still thriving precinct that established for the local Chinese during the days of British colonial rule. The legacy of wholesale trade and commerce endures today as it continues to be the main center of wholesale dried seafood and traditional Chinese medicines in Hong Kong.

Venture on to Hollywood Road, one of the original streets built by the British Royal Engineers. Learn about its importance as an antique market frequented by foreign merchants and sailors who sold wares they’d ‘collected’ on their travels through China. You might even pick up one or two of your own. For a change of pace, take time to reflect at Man Mo Temple, one of the earliest Chinese Temples in Hong Kong. Encircled by a seemingly infinite number of modern high rise buildings that seem to pierce the sky, you can’t help but feel that both the historical and contemporary are well-balanced here.

Pass by the Central District’s Statue Square on route to board an iconic Star Ferry for a trip across Victoria Harbor. Statue Square is the heartbeat of Hong Kong’s international banking center and evidence of its status as a financial center. The Star Ferry ride is just seven minutes from point to point, so have your camera ready. Land at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade for a magnificent view looking back at the spectacular Hong Kong skyline.

Meals included: Breakfasts

Day 3 – Lantau Island Monastery Tour

Today’s adventure starts with a visit to the Lantau Island Monastery, a Buddhist temple and complex still visited by devotees. Your time here is the opportunity to learn how local people still appreciate and use the temple for quiet contemplation and reverence as a reprieve from the big city bustle.

From Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal, take a 25 minutes ride on the Ngong Ping Cable Car to Ngong Ping Terminal. This is the best way to take a bird’s-eye view of Tung Chung Bay, Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge, Lantau Island, the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha) and the Ngong Ping Plateau. Arrive at Ngong Ping Village where you will visit the hundred-year-old Po Lin Monastery. It’s here you’ll be greeted by the Tian Tan Buddha Statue (Big Buddha) which sits at the front of the monastery. As the second largest outdoor Buddha statue in the world, it’s hard not to be in awe, particularly as it stands 34 meters in height and weighs a whopping 202 tones. Enjoy a walk along the Wisdom Path, which provides a glimpse into traditional spiritual influences that endure among local people today. Apart from the contemplative nature of the Wisdom Path, this is a site of beautiful scenery and tranquility with its 38 timber columns inscribed with Confucian, Buddhist, and Taoist sutras.

On the cable car trip back to Tung Chung, enjoy the spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of the island. Savor the day’s activities when you return to your hotel for a relaxing evening. Be sure to check with your guide for advice on where to enjoy the very best local fare.

Meals included: Breakfast

Note: The tour may be adjusted due to the weather condition and the operation of Ngong Ping Cable Car.

Day 4 – Hong Kong - Macau (via HZMB)

Following breakfast and check out, you will be taken to the Hong Kong Port of HZMB located in close proximity to the Hong Kong International Airport. Here you’ll be assisted with the requirements for border crossing. Your guide will escort you for the journey of across the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge (HZMB) to Macau. Those with a sense of adventure will appreciate there’s more to this trip than a simple border crossing. It’s an opportunity to marvel at the HZMB itself. At 55 kilometers in length, the HZMB is a remarkable feat of design and construction. Including a sea-crossing bridge and underwater tunnel that connects Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau, travel on this unique infrastructure is the perfect opportunity to sit back and enjoy the drive in unique surroundings.

You will be greeted on arrival by your Macau guide and immediately commence your Macau city tour of local landmarks. Enjoy the relatively (by China’s standards) more modern history behind the Ruins of St. Paul Cathedral, which was built by Portuguese Catholic Jesuits in the 17th century and tragically burnt to the ground in 1835. Observe more Portuguese colonial influences at beautiful Senado Square, a beautifully designed and maintained square with significant European influences and architecture that held importance as a communal meeting place for both Chinese and Portuguese from the 16th to the 18th century. A stop will also be made at A-Ma Temple, thought to be the inspiration for Macau’s name. Built over 500 years ago for the purpose of worshipping the Mazu Chinese sea-goddess, it’s a fitting tribute to given Mazu was regarded as the patron saint of seamen. Finish the day’s exploration when you check in at your hotel.

While here, enjoy an evening out, perhaps at one of Macau’s casinos, by savoring the fantastic dining options available here, or enjoying the world’s largest water show at The House of Dancing Water. Feeling adventurous? We can help you with that too. Challenge yourself by experiencing the world’s highest Bungy jump. Or for a simpler – and more delicious experience – savor one (or a few) Macau, pastéis de nata, the famous local Portuguese egg tart. We can help you arrange any or all these activities (a surcharge will apply) to help you enjoy every moment of your tour.

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 5 – Depart from Macau

Rise early and make the most of your morning before being transferred to the Hong Kong International Airport by catamaran ferry for travel to your next destination.

It has been a very pleasant trip to Chengdu, albeit my first visit to the city. The guide, Robert and the driver had exhibited exemplary services during this period. Very professional and detailed in introducing the sites visited. Look forward to visiting the city again.

Tripadvisor score Well arranged private tours.

Nov 2024 • Couples

We worked with Martha from China Tours.she was terrific in making all the arrangements. She was available by WeChat when we arrived in China. Hotels were top notch. The guides in each city were friendly and personable: . Ariel in Beijing , Elyshia in Xian and Warren in Shanghai. The guides assisted us at the airports or train station. Cars were comfortable. We chose China Tours because we were not interested in “ shopping tours “. We liked the guided visits to historic sights but liked having some free time to explore on our own. Would certainly use them again for future trips to China.

Tripadvisor score 15 Days Around China

Dec 2024 • Family

We just returned from a 15 day trip around China. Leading up to the holiday China Tours helped us immensely by providing feedback and information regarding our itinerary and told us about all the apps required to get by in China. We had 3 day tours with China Tours in Beijing, Xi’an and Chengdu with the amazing guides Kevin, Helen and Tracy who were very informative (spoke very good English) and took us to all the essential sights in China. China Tours went above and beyond to create an incredible experience for us which we will remember forever.

Tripadvisor score 35 day personalised trip of China & Tibet

Oct 2024 • Friends

2 couples just completed a 35 day tour of China using individual English speaking local guides in each area we visited. We planned what we wanted to see and China Tours organised all the linguistics. We travelled by bullet train, cars & a plane to access areas not included in group tours. China Tours also provided us with some smaller boutique hotels at our request, which were amazing. The difference in cost for this personalised tour was great value. All the guides and drivers were very experienced and did their best to give us the most enjoyable experience. China Tours head office representative was always available on WeChat for any questions or changes which could effect our trip. (Such as a typhoon in Hong Kong on our last 2 days) As very experienced self guided travelers we would highly recommend China Tours in a country where the language & logistics are challenging.

Tripadvisor score Exceptional Experience with ChinaTours!

Oct 2024 • Family

We recently booked a private family vacation with ChinaTours.com for a week-long adventure in Xi'an and Luoyang, and it was nothing short of exceptional! The itinerary was perfectly crafted, allowing sufficient time to explore the iconic sites like the Terracotta Warriors and the breathtaking Longmen Grottoes and many more. Kudos to Ms. Lora of ChinaTours, everything was tailored to our interests, allowing us to explore hidden gems and local favourites. Our English-speaking guides, Felix (方洪杰) for Xi'an & Shirley (周丹丹) for Luoyang, were very knowledgeable and engaging, making history come alive for us. They were not only knowledgeable but also passionate about their cities, sharing stories and insights that enriched our experience beyond the typical tourist narratives. We had the opportunity to witness a few spectacular and mesmerizing cultural and historical performances at a grandeur scale, which added a personal touch to our understanding of the culture and history. The guides were very accommodating in the dining options, which allowed us to savour the delicious local cuisines of the Shaanxi and Henan provinces. The seamless transportation via the minivan and high-speed trains added to our travel experience, making everything relaxing and stress-free. ChinaTours truly thought of everything to ensure our family had an unforgettable trip in China. We highly recommend ChinaTours to anyone looking for a seamless and memorable visit to China!
