Day 1 Arrive in Shanghai

Greet your friendly local guide at the airport/railway station and transfer to your hotel. You have the rest of the day to get a glimpse of the modern metropolis.

Day 2 Shanghai (B)

After breakfast, head out to Yuyuan Garden and beat the crowds to enjoy a peaceful morning in this elaborately designed garden dating back to Ming Dynasty. Appreciate beautiful landscaping and ancient structures. Spend some time in nearby Chenghuangmiao Bazaar to get a feel of old Shanghai among traditional Chinese buildings or pick up some of the city's finest souvenirs or small eats.

If you are a history buff, don’t miss the Shanghai Museum featuring glorious Chinese ancient art. The impressive collection of over 120,000 objects, from Chinese bronze, ceramic, painting to calligraphy, will take you into the historical depth of China. After the visit, enjoy your lunch on the recommendation of your guide.

Continue your trip to the Oriental Pearl Tower, one of the most recognizable landmarks of Shanghai. Go and ascend up its transparent glass sightseeing platform, experience the adrenaline-pumping height and take in the modern magnificence of Shanghai’s world-famous skyline.

Nanjing Road as the most bustling pedestrian street in Shanghai entices endless people coming for shopping or tasting food. Feel its history, enjoy the modern vibe and take a leisurely stroll all the way to The Bund. End your day by getting lost in the fantastic view of exotic concession-era buildings on the waterfront and futuristic Pudong skyscrapers across Huangpu River.

At the end of the day, return to your hotel and have a good rest.

Note: Shanghai Museum is closed to public on Mondays, then Shanghai History Museum will be arranged on the day instead.

Day 3 Shanghai-Hangzhou (B)

After breakfast in your hotel, you will take the high speed train to get to Hangzhou. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you in the railway station and transfer you to your hotel.

After a short rest, firstly visit the Workmanship Demonstration Pavilion to watch how traditional craftsmen create time-honored crafts like pottery, fans, oil-paper umbrellas and scissors, with the opportunity to experience handmade art by making your own kites or painting umbrellas (at your own expense).

Travel to the pier and board a Grand Canal Cruise across the world’s longest manmade waterway. Admire ancient dwellings gracing the riverside, and learn about interesting local customs and canal culture. Get off at the Dadou Road Historic Block bustling with shops, teahouses, ancient docks and historical flavors. Have a relaxing walking along crisscrossing lanes and then hop back on the car to your hotel.

Day 4 Hangzhou (B)

You tour starts with a pick-up from your hotel in the comfort of a private vehicle to the famous West Lake. You will drop by the Red Carp Pond, a beautiful garden featuring pavilions, zigzag bridge, red carps and evergreen trees, enjoy boating on the lake and marvel at postcard-perfect scenery which has inspired numerous Chinese poets and artists in history.

Note: Biking around the lake is also available if you are interested and your guide will help you rent the bicycle (at your own expenses).

Afterwards, head to Feilai Peak, known for its ancient grotto art dating back to Song and Yuan dynasties. Along the way, discover more than 300 exquisite Buddha statues dotted on cliff faces. You will also find the Lingyin Temple constructed in 326. Wander around to appreciate magnificent halls housing precious religious relics. You can offer incense to Buddha and make good wishes if you like.

Later, head to tea plantation where you can admire breathtaking natural landscape, experience traditional Chinese culture in the Museum of Tea, and learn about tea-picking and tea-making if you pay a visit around the harvest time, which lasts from late March to April.

Night Activities: Complete your Hangzhou day with an evening show – Enduring Memories of Hangzhou (Impression West Lake), or the spectacular night view at Qiantang River on weekends.

Day 5 Depart from Hangzhou (B)

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Then you will be escorted to the airport for your departing flight to your next destination. Your memorable tour ends here.
