Detail Itinerary

DAY 1 Gubeikou Great Wall – Jinshanling Great Wall (L+D; 10 km, 5 hrs)

The guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and transfer you to the Gubeikou section of the Great Wall where we kick off the three-day hiking. Gubeikou used to be an important strategic passage to Beijing. Therefore, here closely spaced almost 40 watchtowers stretching to Jinshanling Great Wall. From the top of these watchtowers, you will be marveled at the breathtaking scenery as well as see the Miyun reservoir and Wangjing Tower in the Simatai Section.

Beijing Gubeikou Great Wall

Along the Wall, prepare for a detour through a quaint nearby village in order to bypass a military area in Gubeikou Great Wall. It will take about one hour till you climb up the wall again and continue hiking to Jinshanling section. Jinshanling Great Wall is a typical Ming Dynasty construction, which is built from 1568 to 1583 with a height of almost 7-meter.

Beijing Jinshanling Great Wall

At the first night, we could camp in one of the watchtowers in Jinshanling Great Wall if the weather is good. Or we can stay overnight at a local courtyard hotel at the foot of the Great Wall.

DAY 2 Jinshanling Great Wall – Wohushan Great Wall – Jiankou Great Wall (B+L+D; 8 km; 5 hrs)

If we camp on the Wall, we will get up early to catch the magnificent sunrise and it is a great time to grab it by your lens. In the wake of breakfast, we continue hiking eastward to Simatai Section. Then, stop at Wuyuan Tower on Jinshanling section where we can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Simatai Great Wall and panorama of the surroundings. Then, down to the parking lot and have lunch at a local restaurant.

Beijing Simatai Great Wall

Later, a short drive transfers us to Wohushan section of the Great Wall which is a west part of Gubeikou Great Wall. It features its precipitous geography. Extreme landforms lead the wall like two vivid tigers, so-called Wohu (crouching tigers). Over hundreds of years, the wall has been deteriorated by war and natural disasters without renovation. Therefore, it becomes the most appealing and original section of the Great Wall of China with few tourists set foot in.

Then, we are driven to Jiankou section where we stay in their guesthouse of a local family (each room with two-beds and private washroom).

DAY 3 Jiankou Great Wall – Mutianyu Great Wall (B+L; 10 km, 4-5 hrs)

Today, we will challenge the steepest and rough "Wild Great Wall" – Jiankou section which is fairly popular among photographers due to the unparalleled scenery around it.

Beijing Jiankou Great Wall

Later, we will have lunch at a local eatery which is famous for delicious fish near Mutianyu Great Wall.

Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall

After lunch, sit back and relax as the driver transfer us back to Beijing. The tour ends here.
