We travelled via Beijing to Australia and New Zealand and took the opportunity to spend time in China both ways.

Having decided on our ‘complicated’ agenda, China Tours responded quickly and competitively. Whilst not providing our visas they assisted with requirements and letter of introduction.

Delighted that all our expectations were met, as were the numerous pick ups and late night airport deliveries.

Both Tom in Beijing and Linda in Xi’an were knowledgable, polite and organised all the required local details. They even began to understand our humour.

Bottom line- Great tour. The booked all the transport within China, hotels, tickets etc. The guides got me to everything I wanted to see, explained the history and culture.
This was my first trip to China and I knew the language barrier here would be difficult to overcome. Also, the size of the country and distance traveled would require extensive logistical research. It was too much for me, so I contacted a few tour companies and ChinaTours responded right away. After looking at the provided tours, I realized my ideal locations were not available. I decided to book a private tour with the lowest level of hotel, to save on the cost. It was well worth it. I did everything I wanted at the pace I wanted. The hotels and included breakfast were above expectation. My coordinator, Wynn was very helpful with suggestions and changing my itinerary multiple times and providing updated costs. I was a bit nervous paying for an expensive private tour with a company I found online, but it all worked exactly as we’d discussed. The guides are all locals who speak excellent Chinese and English. They were always on time and often stayed with me to ensure my free time was well spent. They made recommendations and drew maps on where to go. I would not have been able to do half of this on my own. I’ve been to over 40 countries independently and realized to really see China, I needed help. ChinaTours took care of me and I highly recommend them to anyone.

The whole tour was really well organised. We visited Beijing, Xi’an , Chengdu , cruised on the Yangtze and finally Shanghai, the hotels were very good and all travel arrangements were well planned. The guides were excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We would certainly use this company again.

Visiting China has always been top of my adventure list so I wanted to see all the main sites and for it to be a holiday of a lifetime – this 14 day tour certainly made that happen! We visited Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin, cruise down River Li to Yangshuo, Chongqing then 3 night Yangtze River cruise to Yichang, finishing in Shanghai. At each place the lovely China Tours guides met us off the plane or train – they were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and we would have been completely lost without them as the language barrier is a problem! They were all great but especial thanks to Ginger in Guilin/Yangshuo who thought of everything and really went the extra mile to make our stay a happy one and John in Shanghai who gave up his own time to show us round parts of the city and how to use the subway on an afternoon when we had no formal sightseeing scheduled.

The itinerary though full, worked perfectly. I was concerned I would find all the constant moving between places too much but the way it was organised meant there was free time as well as full on sightseeing days. As someone else has mentioned, the only thing I would change is to add another night in Shanghai as we only had 1 full day there and Shanghai is WONDERFUL! All the travel arrangements were seamless, the cars were all comfortable and air conditioned, the hotels were luxurious (and I am not a lover of hotels).

I am so pleased we decided to include the Yangtze cruise as it was a chance to really kick back and relax after some of the busier days. I’d read mixed reviews of the boat we were on – Century Sun – but we found it clean, very comfortable, great food, lovely staff members and our cabin was huge!

The initial booking and follow up communications with the China Tours office was extremely efficient. Especial thanks to Wynn who was always so prompt to respond and very helpful!

I’ve no hesitation in recommending China Tours and would definitely use them again.

We needed a tour that fitted with our school holidays and didn’t require stops at shops to purchase jewelry,silk… China Tours based in Xi’an suited our needs as we found a tour doing Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai within our timeframe, which also allowed us to extend our stay at the end to go to Shanghai Disneyland. We began in Beijing for our 12 day highlight tour and took the 5* hotel option. This was the first time we ever took a tour, we are independent travelers in our 60s, but thought we needed guidance for China. We were met at each airport or train station with no problems, taken to our lovely hotels by each local guide. The day tours were just as expected, and our group was never more than 6 adults. Our guides knew lots about every stop and some were quite funny (Shirley in Beijing!) and very attentive. The breakfasts at each hotel were absolutely fantastic. We usually did not stop for lunch, just completed the day tour and enjoyed our free time for the rest of the afternoon or evening. The days were well paced. We were always aware of what to be ready for the next day. The hotels were all well located, we never had a problem finding a great restaurant within walking distance for dinner. We felt safe, the drivers were very cautious and the vans and cars were in very good condition. The tour was certainly a good value, and we saw all of the highlights we had hoped for. Communication with the staff was always prompt. Keep up the good work!

We really enjoyed our 12 day tour of China. Everything worked like clockwork, our guides were always waiting for us at each City, waiting to greet us with a friendly smile. They were always so helpful, friendly & informative, which made our trip so enjoyable, and an amazing & wonderful experience. We would like to give a special mention to Sally in Xi’an, to Renni in Beijing & also to their drivers. They were all terrific guiding and driving us around safely. The Hotels in each City were great, no problems anywhere. We have no hesitation In recommending China Tours to other travellers.
