Macau

Enjoy a day of exploration that starts when you travel along the 55 kilometers long Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge (HZMB) before arrival in Macau. Learn about the Portuguese influence which is still evident today in the historical buildings and relics that remain, with the Ruins of St Paul’s Cathedral and Senado Square among them. Enjoy the opportunity for contemplation at the A-Ma Temple, and for a complete change of pace visit one of Macau’s famous casinos before returning to Hong Kong on one of the world class catamarans that seem to skim across the water. A thoroughly enjoyable day of sightseeing that profiles a distinct chapter in the region’s rich history. Book on its own or in conjunction with any other Hong Kong or best China tours. Just ask us how.

Itinerary

Macau Day Trip from Hong Kong

Your day’s adventure commences in the morning when your guide collects you from your hotel.

The first stop for the day is the Hong Kong Port of HZMB located in close proximity to the Hong Kong International Airport. Here you will be assisted with requirements for the border crossing to Macau. Your guide will escort you for the journey to travel the famous Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge (HZMB) to Macau. There’s more to this trip than a simple border crossing. It’s an opportunity to marvel at the HZMB itself. The HZMB is 55 kilometers long, a feat remarkable in that it connects Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau in a single sea-crossing bridge and underwater tunnel. Relish the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the drive-in unique surroundings.

You will be greeted on arrival by your guide in Macau and immediately commence your Macau city tour of local landmarks. Enjoy the relatively (by China’s standards) more modern history behind the Ruins of St. Paul Cathedral, which was built by Portuguese Catholic Jesuits in the 17th century and tragically burnt to the ground in 1835. Observe more Portuguese colonial influences at beautiful Senado Square, a beautifully designed and maintained square with significant European influences and architecture that held importance as a communal meeting place for both Chinese and Portuguese from the 16th to the 18th century. A stop will also be made at A-Ma Temple, thought to be the inspiration for Macau’s name. Built over 500 years ago for the purpose of worshipping the Mazu Chinese sea-goddess, it’s a fitting tribute to given Mazu was regarded as the patron saint of seamen.

While in Macau, be sure to savor the local sweet delicacy, pastéis de nata, or Portuguese egg tart to create a truly delicious travel food memory. Can’t stop at one? Buy a couple to take away and enjoy as an after-dinner treat.

Before returning to Hong Kong by the spacious and speedy catamaran ferry, there is the option to try your luck at one of Macau’s many casinos. On arrival back in Hong Kong, your guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel, concluding your tour.

Notes: Your guide will contact you in advance to confirm the hotel pick up time. Lunch is at your own arrangement, although your guide is happy to assist with recommendations and order, if required.

Tripadvisor score Personalized tour, anchored in family history

Mine was an unusual trip, aimed at visiting sites from the mother's life in China, more than 100 years ago. Th China Tours guides and drivers made it possible for me to see every one of places I had identified. IN many cases they did additional background research, finding historical photographs, and identifying locations. All tour logistics (rail, lodging) worked smoothly. I am more than 100% satisfied!

We had an excellent experience with this tour company from start to finish. Communication during planning was smooth and responsive, pricing was very reasonable, and every guide we had was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Lee in Beijing was the best! The itinerary was thoughtfully planned to avoid crowds and make travel days comfortable and efficient. Hotel selections throughout the trip exceeded our expectations in both comfort and location. Overall, this was a very well-organized and enjoyable experience, and we would highly recommend this company to anyone traveling in China.

Tripadvisor score AMAZING holiday in Yunnan Province

May 2026 • Couples

This is our second China trip with China Tours. Thank you for organising such a fantastic trip Martha! Five stars experience in every way. We chose China Tours again for our trip to Yunnan, after we had a fabulous time in Beijing last year. It’s a 10-day tour which started in Kunming, and then we went to Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-la. From the moment we were picked up at Kunming airport, getting local sim card, dropped off at the hotel and the places we visited, everything was smooth and we were really taken care of.
The hotels were all excellent with great services and extensive options of breakfast included. The drivers were excellent, especially Mrs. Li who drove us from Dali to Lijiang and to Shangri-la, the car was very comfortable and spacious. We had different guides in every city, they are all very friendly, helpful, and they have deep knowledge of all the places we visited. Especially our guide Caroline from Lijiang and Tsesham from Shangri-la. We spent more time in Lijiang and Shangri-la so we had more time with our guides there. They are truly the experts of their respective cultures, they are attentive, insightful, very kind, and encouraging. We had so much fun! Thank you for making our holiday in China feel special and memorable.

Cannot say enough about this tour. Booking was incredible easy, communication, fantastic we had the great guides, including Lee in Beijing, Helen in Xi’an, Tracy in Chengdu, and John in Shanghai. Everyone was ineligible and brought you perspective. Everything was arranged perfectly, including in country, airfare and high-speed rail we elected five star hotels, and we were not disappointed. I would highly recommend this company.

Tripadvisor score Amazingly organised tours with incredible people

Apr 2026 • Couples

Booked back to back tours through China to visit the must see places people always talk about. First tour for 10 days covered Beijing (included Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and Mutianyu Great Wall), Xian (Terracotta Army), Zhangjajie (visit the national forest via Bailong Elevator and Tianmen Mountain) and ended in Shanghai (The Bund and Yuyuan Garden). Next tour commenced a couple of days later visiting Chengdu (can't miss the Pandas) and Lhasa in Tibet (including Drepung and Sera Monasteries and Potala Palace). Guides are all fantastic. Thank you Jessica, Chris, Cindy, Lucy, Raymond and Tashi for making it such a memorable trip. So much more to see and will have to have another visit. Some hiccups with flights (delayed departures, cancellations due to bad weather) but through it all Lora was there to help find emergency accommodation and re-book flights (and thank you to Lucy and Tashi who had to deal with 2:00am flights and returns to airports when flight couldn't land). If our experience with China Tours is indicative of the service they provide then I have nothing but admiration for the organisation.
