In most cities of China, you can take public city buses and long-distance buses, which are cheap transportations and suitable for traveling within city or short distance. Generally, the normal public city bus charges CNY 1 for one ticket, and might be crowded at rush hour; the air-conditioned public bus charges CNY 2 and is not very packed. Nearly all public city buses adopt self-service ticketing and don’t offer change, so before getting on the buses, you have to prepare some CNY 1 notes. As for long-distance buses (coaches), CNY 6 or more is charged for one ticket. You can take this kind of bus to visit the places of interest beyond the city.
