Day 1Arrive in Beijing

Upon your arrival at the airport/train station, you will be met by your personal guide and transferred to the pre-booked hotel in downtown Beijing. The rest of the day is free for you to take a rest or explore the city on your own.

Tip: If arriving early, you could head out and explore the city on your own to make the most of your time here. Perhaps get a taste of modern Beijing at nearby Wangfujing Street. Or you can just recover from jet-lag with a good rest at the hotel.

Day 2Beijing (B)

After breakfast, start your day with a tour of the Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world. Follow your guide to discover its historical significance and take some souvenir picture. Then move onto the Forbidden City, home of China’s 24 emperors over the span of 500 years. From beautiful palatial architectures to extravagant imperial art and precious artifacts, your eyes will be feasted upon the royal splendor of China as you stroll around the giant walled compound.

In the afternoon, your trip continues to the enchanting royal retreat, Summer Palace. Aesthetically landscaped with gardens, lakes, temples, bridges and decorated corridors, it is perfect for indulging in a relaxing day far away from the hustle and bustle of city center.

Day 3Beijing (B)

Today you will take an excursion to the Mutianyu Great Wall, where you can beat the crowds to enjoy a well-preserved, incredibly scenic extant of the ancient architectural marvel. Round-trip cable car will be included and allows you to take in panoramic views of the wall stretching across ridges and valleys like a huge dragon.

On your way back to downtown, have a photo stop at the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. Then explore old Beijing hutongs by a rickshaw to discover what the daily life of locals is like in their traditional courtyard homes lined along labyrinth winding alleyways.

After that, enjoy a comfortable ride back to your hotel.

Day 4Beijing-Xian (B)

In the morning, go and explore the Temple of Heaven, which served as the sacred temple for imperial ritual ceremonies during Ming and Qing dynasties. Besides the distinctive circular buildings with blue-tiled roof, the park is vibrant with locals singing, dancing and playing traditional instruments, from which you can glimpse into Chinese life.

Later, you will be driven to the railway station for the high speed rail train to Xian, which takes approximately 5 hours. Upon arrival, be met at the train station and transferred to your hotel.

Day 5Xian (B)

After breakfast, head for a one-hour drive to the world-renowned Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. With the more than 7000 magnificent life-sized warriors, horses and chariots lining up in battle formation, it will give you a feel of the awe-inspiring military strength of Qin Dynasty as well as the admirable skill of the craftsmen about 2, 200 years ago.

Later, get back to downtown Xian to visit Xian Museum, where more than 130,000 cultural items vividly record the thousands of years of Chinese history. Then walk leisurely through a classic Chinese garden to explore the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a notable heritage of Tang Dynasty that withstood dozens of earthquakes in history.

Day 6Xian (B)

In the morning, explore the ancient Xian City Wall constructed more than 600 years ago. Walking on the top, you can enjoy a good view of the city blending both past and present.

Then move onto the Great Mosque to enjoy a lovely oasis tucked away the old block of Xian, with lush gardens and intricate structures fusing Islamic and Chinese elements. Later, stroll around the bustling Muslim Street, where you can find the most authentic local food and plenty of interesting souvenirs.

Also make a stop at the Bell Tower & Drum Tower Square for some great photo opportunities before returning to your hotel.

Day 7Xian-Lhasa (B)

Today you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Lhasa. Upon arrival, be met by your local guide and transferred to the pre-booked hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and acclimatize to the high altitude.

Day 8Lhasa (B)

Today’s highlight is a visit to Potala Palace, the symbol of Tibet. Upon arrival, you will be awed by its magnificent castle style appearance, with golden rooftop shone under pure blue sky. Stepping inside, the valuable collections including murals, Buddha Statues, Tangkas, scriptures and antiques bring great insights into the culture of Tibetan religion.

In the afternoon, explore Jokhang Temple, revered as the spiritual heart of Tibetans, where you will be impressed by endless streams of pilgrims prostrating themselves in front of the temple. Encircling the temple is the ancient Barkhor Street, which is circumambulated by pilgrims with prayer wheels day or night. It is also a bustling market to find lovely Tibetan handicrafts for your families or friends.

At last, conclude your day with a visit to the Lhasa Nunnery.

Day 9Lhasa (B)

In the morning, travel to Norbulingka, the summer resort of Dalia Lama and also the hub of entertainment for festivals. Featuring a mix of exquisite gardening and structures of Tibetan style, the intriguing scenery is perfect for a relaxing walking. You could also appreciate some amazing wall paintings that fully illustrate the history of Tibet.

Afterwards, visit Sera Monastery, one of the three most important monasteries in Lhasa. The highlight of your visit here is its tradition of monk debating, characterized by vigorous physical movements like clapping their hands. It’s easy to get caught up by the lively debating atmosphere, even without understanding a word.

Day 10Lhasa-Shanghai (B)

Today, you will be picked up from hotel and taken to airport to board your flight to Shanghai. After arrival, meet your local guide and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is left on your own arrangement.

Day 11Shanghai (B)

The first stop of your day is the Shanghai Museum, where you could delve into the lond history of Shanghai through over 120,000 pieces of precious artifacts.

Next, take a walking tour around Shanghai’s iconic landmarks, including The Bund, the famous waterfront where colonial-era architectures revives the glamour of Old Shanghai, and Nanjing Road, the most bustling shopping area of Shanghai.
