Day 1Arrive in Shanghai

After airport pickup, you will be transferred to your hotel in Shanghai. The rest time is free for you to freshen up or relax, or take a stroll around your hotel.

Day 2Shanghai (B)

After breakfast, enjoy a short drive by our luxury vehicle to the Yuyuan Garden – a typical and historic garden of Southern China where you can appreciate Chinese landscape architecture with grotesque rockeries, fish-filled ponds, well-designed pavilions, and walls decorated with dragon sculptures. A stone's throw away is the Chenghuang Miao Bazaar selling everything from antiques, local souvenirs, handcrafts to everyday use. Here you can easily get a local experience by bargaining for some well-priced crafts or sampling some tasteful local snacks.

The Chenghuang Miao visit will be followed by a trip to Shanghai Museum. With a collection of more than 140,000 pieces of artifacts, the museum oozes a strong sense of art brought by its exhibits of bronze, pottery, calligraphy, painting and so on.

Then, attempt to define the prosperous Shanghai by taking a stroll at Nanjing Road, the busiest shopping street in Shanghai with many architectures of decades-long history, and The Bund, the most impressive sight in Shanghai being surrounded by many skyscrapers including Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Jin Mao Tower. End the short walking tour with a panoramic view of the Bund and Huangpu River from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, one of the tallest and most striking landmarks of Shanghai.

Today's trip will come to an end after you are transferred back to the hotel.

Note: Shanghai Museum is closed to public on Mondays, then Shanghai History Museum will be arranged on the day instead.

Day 3Shanghai-Suzhou-Hangzhou (B)

After breakfast, you will start a trip to Suzhou - a nearby city famous for its natural beauties, garden art, and peaceful water towns.

On arrival, your first stop will be the Master of Nets Garden – the smallest yet best designed and most elegant garden in Suzhou which once served as private house of many great scholars. Try to imagine their idyllic and relaxed life in the garden as you wonder at the fantastic landscape being decorated with rockeries, plants, pools, pavilions and stone bridges. The name of the garden actually refers to one of its features and you can ask your guide for an answer.

Then, get your way to Tongli to enjoy the peaceful life of Suzhou's water town. Being eulogized by many poets and writers, Tongli is famous for its complicated waterways, a variety of ancient bridges, eye-catching scenery and delicious snacks. Thanks to its traffic inconvenience in ancient time, Tongli was less interrupted by wars and can delight its visitors with better preserved ancient architectures. A boat ride is the best way to explore hidden gems and easy lifestyle here.

Say goodbye to Suzhou and hop in the vehicle to the railway station for the 1.5hrs high speed train experience to Hangzhou.

Day 4Hangzhou (B)

Your first stop today is the picturesque West Lake, with amazing beauties of serene water, ancient architectures, stone bridges, distant hills, and charming gardens. A wooden boat ride on the Lake will enable you to appreciate this beauty at leisure, and meanwhile, get you involved as part of the scenery. After the boat ride, you will have a stop at the Red Carp Pond, the home of thousands of carp, and varieties of trees and flowers.

Then, followed by a visit to the Feilai Peak where you can climb the mountain to admire its fantastic scenery and marvel at the over 300 vivid Buddha statues of more than one thousand years ago. After that, move on to the Lingyin Temple, a time-honored Zen Buddhist temple boasting centuries-old pagodas and halls, delicate paintings on walls and roofs, and exquisitely carved Buddha statues.

This afternoon, you'll head to the tea plantation for an in-depth exploration of tea culture. Nestling in hills on the west of West Lake, the village is comfortable and offers tourists many tea-related leisure activities, including learning process of picking tea and stir-frying tea, watching elaborate tea ceremonies, and learning how to taste a cup of tea.

Day 5Hangzhou and departure (B)

Awake yourself with a western breakfast at your hotel, start your Hangzhou exploration with a visit to the Six Harmonies Pagoda. One of Hangzhou's most enduringly historic symbols, Six Harmonies Pagoda is a masterpiece of ancient architecture which looks like a 13-storey structure from outside yet only 7 stories inside the building. Climb to the top of the Pagoda and get a spectacular bird's view of West Lake and Qiantang River.

Later on, you will explore the life of old Hangzhou when ambling along the Hefang Ancient Street - a well-designed antique street boasting architectures in Song Dynasty style and variety of century-old stores including pharmacies, hand-held fan shops, tea stores, restaurants, etc. It should be a good place for you to do a little souvenir shopping. Don't forget to have a stop at the Hu Qing Yu Tang Chinese Medicine Museum where you can not only discover the history of traditional Chinese medicine but also try your hand at creating your own pills.

Your trip today will come to an end after you are transferred to the airport or railway station for your departure flight/train after 4 pm.
