Day 1

Welcome to Beijing

Welcome to Beijing, where your splendid China tour starts. Arrive into the city at any time today and take courtesy point to point transfer to downtown located hotel. The tour guide will tell the meeting time for the following day. Your guide and travel consultant will be available by phone to answer any questions you may have.

If you arrive early today, you may need some time to relax and recover from jet-lag. If you would like to go for a walk around, the Wangfujing Street in walking distance is recommended.

If you arrive a few days ahead and need extra days accommodation, please ask your travel consultant for details and costs.

Day 2

Beijing City Tour (B)

Start your Beijing trip by wandering through the immense Tiananmen Square and taking some photos there. From the square, just across through the gate adorned with the famed Mao Zedong' s portrait to reach the mysterious Forbidden City which had been off-limit to the world for five centuries. About 2 hours visiting, you will discover its secrets and learn about some of the stories while enjoying through the many compact and orderly buildings.

Continue the day with a visit to the imperial Summer Palace with lovely gardens, grand palaces, pavilions, decorated corridors, bridges and lakes.

PLEASE NOTE: Forbidden City implements real-name ticketing system which requires the travelers' names and passport numbers as on the original copy. And please take the passport with you on the tour.

Day 3

Beijing Great Wall Tour (B)

Set out early for avoiding the morning peak hour. Take an exhilarating 2 hours' drive to reach the less crowded Mutianyu Great Wall. You will take cable car up to the wall and enjoy 2 to 3 hours hiking on the wonder. You will be rewarded with amazing views of the wall after the grasping climb – Worth to do it. Then, get down the mountains by cable car to soak up the breathtaking panoramic view again before leave.

Have a rest in the coach on the way back. Photo stop at the Bird' s Nest and Water Cube. Afterwards, hop on a rickshaw for a Hutong Tour to experience the old Beijing neighborhoods.

PLEASE NOTE: As many parts of the Great Wall are steep, you need to wear comfortable shoes with good support.
Taking toboggan down the wall is available as well. If you prefer, please pay the price difference on spot.

Day 4

High Speed Train Travel from Beijing to Xian (B)

Head to the remarkable Temple of Heaven where emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties performed ceremonies to pray for good harvest and blessing on the country. Now you have opportunities to take morning exercises, like Tai Chi, water calligraphy, diabolo, etc. with local people here.

In the afternoon, you would be taken to the railway station to experience the fastest high speed rail train to Xian taking approximately 5 hours. Along the way, feel free to have a rest or admire a totally different scenery of the countryside. Tour guide in Xian will meet you at the station and escort you to the hotel.

PLEASE NOTE: The second class seat for the high speed train is included. If you prefer to try the more spacious first class seat, please ask your travel consultant for costs.

Day 5

Xian Terracotta Warriors and Horses Tour (B)

Be amazed by the grandeur remains and the complete battle formations when coming to face to face with these soldiers at Terracotta Warriors and Horses site. Follow your tour guide to unveil the secret of the prestigious site and learn more about Chinese battle array by visiting the 3 pits.

Hop aboard to the coach and drive back to discover the ancient city by seeing the City Wall. Climb up the wall by steps to enjoy the good view of the city. A 20-minute drive will get you to Great Mosque, the oldest and biggest Islamic mosque in the country where you can enjoy the traditional architectures and the tranquility. Walk to the nearby bustling Muslim Street to enjoy some free time trying the most authentic fine eateries and bargain with the souvenirs shops. Move to the Bell Tower & Drum Tower Square for some great photo opportunities.

Day 6

Flight from Xian to Lhasa (B)

After a sound sleep, get to airport for flight to Lhasa. Be met by the local guide on time and transferred to the hotel for check in. Take an orientation walk around and start acclimatizing to the altitude.

PLEASE NOTE: Keep warm, do not drink alcohol and avoid excessive physical activity to adapt the high altitude.

Day 7

Lhasa Potala Palace Tour (B)

Uncover the mystery of Tibet from visiting the former residence of Dalai Lama, the holy Potala Palace, in the central city. It is composed of Red Palace as center and White Palace as wings, housing the formidable Buddha statue, Thangka, murals and scriptures, etc.

Commence to Jokhang Temple. A solid gold statue of Sakyamuni Buddha is the reason it became the ultimate pilgrimage destination for Tibetan Pilgrims. Then proceed to Barkhor Street being built and developed centering the Jokhang Temple, to enjoy some free time to do bargain shopping at the nearby market for exotic articles and to experience religious atmosphere there. The last stop is Lhasa Nunnery.

PLEASE NOTE: Taking photos, wearing skirt, pants, sunglasses and hat are all prohibited inside the palace for expressing respect.

Day 8

Lhasa City Tour (B)

Enjoy learning more about the summer palace, Norbulingka. You will discover the production process of Thangka there, a unique kind of Tibetan scroll painting with silk embroidery.

Drepung Monastery in the col enjoys the highest position among Gelugpa monasteries. The large complex houses many collectibles including porcelains, Tangka, scriptures, bronze articles and Buddha statues, armors and weapons, etc. It concentrated the representatives the civilization of Tibet and delivered a source of information and inspiration for the locals themselves.

Set out for the most highlight today – monk debating in the magnificent Sera Monastery. Visitors usually are struck by the physicality of the debates, with clapping their hands, pushing their partners, etc. for an answer.

PLEASE NOTE: Monk Debating is on every day (except on Sundays) during 3 to 5 pm. For a close view of the unique event, an early arrival is recommended.

Day 9

Flight from Lhasa to Chengdu (B)

Fly from Lhasa to Chengdu. The local guide In Chengdu will meet you at the airport and show you to the hotel to proceed check in.

Day 10

Chengdu Panda Tour (B)

Beat the early morning traffic with an early pick up to get a close encounter with the lovely and adorable Giant Pandas at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, because they are more active in the morning. Strolling in this bamboo-covered panda base, you can observe adult giant pandas in its own villa eat, sleep or play, or several months old baby pandas rolling into a ball play in the playground. Enjoy about 2 hours staying with these black and white balls of fur, get back to downtown.

Stroll around Jinli Street where got loads of the most authentic Chengdu snacks and fine crafts. Then you'll have a chance to enjoy some leisure time in Wangjiang Pavilion Park by roaming around the rare bamboo groves and drinking a cup of tea there. (B)

Day 11

High Speed Train from Chengdu to Chongqing for Yangtze River Cruise (B)

Take you to the railway station for the high speed train to Chongqing. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and drive to visit Ciqikou Ancient Town. Located on the bank of Jialingjiang River, Ciqikou is a natural dock with various stores and stalls along the stoney road. It is called small Chongqing as well for the representative culture, food, religion and prosperity, etc. Then, embark the luxurious cruise ship which will weigh anchor at 9.30pm. There is a necessary Safety, Orientation & River Briefing presentation for you.

Note: Dinner is not included, you should arrange by yourself before board the cruise or after on board.

Day 12

Yangtze River Cruise (B+L+D)

Get up early in the morning and soak up the fresh air on the deck. After the early bird coffee and tea, try to practice Tai Chi. In the afternoon, start the shore excursion to Fengdu Ghost City or Shibaozhai, depending on the water level condition or different cruises. At night, welcome to join the lively Captain's Welcome Party.

Day 13

Yangtze River Cruise (B+L+D)

Continue sailing along the Yangtze River to encounter the charming sights of the spectacular Qutang Gorge and the pretty Wu Gorge. The river guide will provide information about the Three Gorges area including the Ancient Plank Road, Mengliang Stairway and Hanging Coffins. Dock at Badong and enjoy the natural beauty along the crystal Shennong Stream or Shennv Stream, by taking a small wooden boat tour. Return to the ship and continue sailing into the western section of Xiling Gorge. Tonight the Farewell Party invites you to join the excellent performance by the cruise staff.  

Day 14

Disembarkation from Yichang and Fly to Shanghai (B)

After breakfast, disembark at Maoping Pier of Yichang, then you will take a bus to join the shore excursion to the grandest hydroelectric project in the world, the Three Gorges Dam. Indulge yourself with a tour around the colossal dam and perhaps the phenomenal scene of millions of tons of water being discharged if it happens to be rain season. After the tour in late morning, the cruise will provide a shuttle bus transfer you to Yichang Three Gorges Tourism Center, you will be met by your guide there. Then be transferred to the airport for your flight towards Shanghai. Upon arrival, your guide will pick you up at Shanghai airport and transfer to the hotel. (B)

Note: Optional excursion is provided, disembark at Maoping Pier then board sightseeing-ferry sailing through TGP Ship's elevator to enjoy the tour of the Three Gorges Dam, which should be paid on board if you'd like to join in.

Day 15

Shanghai City Tour (B)

Join your guide for a tour that will take you experience both the historical and modern Shanghai. Shanghai Museum offers a comprehensive displaying of the history and cultural scene of the city. At the Bund you will get a taste of 1920s Shanghai, with exotic building clusters. Behind the western buildings is the busiest shopping area in the metropolis, Nanjing Road.

In the afternoon, see Yuyuan Garden, where you can marvel at the stunning view and enjoy a local experience by strolling around the nearby Chenghuang Miao bazaars, and New Spot (XinTianDi).


Good to know:
As we only have one full day in Shanghai as part of the trip, if possible, we highly recommend you extend one day in Shanghai to cover the water towns nearby. If you are interested, please ask your travel consultant for details and costs.

Note: Shanghai Museum is closed to public on Mondays, then Shanghai History Museum will be arranged on the day instead.

Day 16

Departure from Shanghai (B)

There are no activities planned for the final day and you are able to check out the accommodation before noon.
