Travel Reviews
Tour reviews and feedbacks from our former clients in August, 2009.
Miss. Hannah & Ms. Patricia said about China Tours
Dear Sophia and Cindy,
We had an amazing time on our trip to China, it was certainly a brilliant introduction to Asia for both of us. While we may not be too anxious to travel there again in August due to the hot summer conditions, the tour itself was everything we could have wanted. Although we took the train in an effort to save a bit of money, it turned out to be one of the most interesting aspects of our tour. Although fighting our way through the train platform amongst thousands of other people was difficult at sometimes and perhaps a bit concerning, it was a wonderful look at local culture that we would have otherwise missed out on. The sleeping car on the train was beautiful and very comfortable, we arrived in each city well rested. Having booked the extra two beds to have our sleeping car to ourselves was a very good idea as we were able to rest peacefully without concern for our safety or our luggage.
Our guide Jason in Beijing was both witty and very knowledgeable about all the sites we visited, he was probably our favorite of the tour. May in Xi’an was a very new tour guide and was very forthcoming with this information which we appreciated. She did a wonderful job given that it was one of her first tour groups and knew an impressive amount of information. Bella in Shanghai was also very knowledgeable regarding the day’s sites and temples, though sometimes it felt as though her speeches were rehearsed. It made it difficult to ask questions and make comments as she would often talk over us in order to get her speech out about a certain location. All the guides were very friendly and we wouldn’t have asked for anyone different. All three tour guides had very impressive English skills, with Jason (Beijing) and Bella (Shanghai) being especially skilled. If there were any miscommunications the guides were all very patient in reexplaining the information until we understood.
Our cars were both clean and air-conditioned. There weren’t any problems that had to do with the tour company. If it hadn’t been for Mr. Kang (our Beijing driver) driving and maneuvering in front of other tour buses, we may not have gotten to walk on the great wall of China due to the crowds.
The drivers were great. They drove faster than we do in the United States, but they were very appropriate compared with other Chinese drivers. We weren’t use to the honking, but we did understand that it seems to be necessary on the roads of China.
The water was a necessity for us. We really appreciated the service because the weather was so hot and humid in China. It would have been better cold, but that is just an American preference. We love cold water and ice.
The restaurants offered lovely attractive food. Coke-Cola, and Sprite were offered. There was always plenty of food on the table, enough that we would have been happy to have both the driver and guide join us for meals. The guides in each city were considerate in asking our taste preferences and provided an opportunity for us to try different regional dishes.
We felt very safe in our hotels and the breakfast included was wonderful. The hotel in Beijing was the best as it offered an in-room safe and a free computer with internet so we could contact family to let them know we had arrived. Also the bottled water offered for free by many of the hotels was greatly appreciated.

Ms. Michele Lynn Kezar said about China Tours
Dear Ivy and Tracy,
Hello. My trip was fantastic! Thank you for everything. Chinatours was great from start to finish. I loved how customizable my tour was. It allowed me the freedom to do what I wanted in China. Friends who have been to China have only done group tours which have been limited to what the tour is doing and restricted. I loved how convenient my trip was. I went to Japan in December and found it tiresome to arrange my own hotels, travel from here to there, what to eat and get tickets for attractions. By using CT I didn’t have to worry about anything, I just had to get on a plane and go. When I landed my guide was right there waiting and made everything so easy and convenient. I also loved not worrying about transportation, having a private car was great! I’m hoping to come back to China with my family and will definitely use CT again. I will be recommending CT to anyone who wants an amazing trip to China!
The vehicles were great. Very clean and was very nice to have air-conditioners on sure hot days. There were no problems during the trip. The drivers were great. Very polite, drove well.
Both guide spoke really well. There were some communication difficulties but nothing that was a problem. I live in Korea so I am used to some pronunciation problems. I was very impressed with the amount of information that they knew. So many historical facts I don’t know how they could keep them all straight!
I had read on your site from other customers about the water so my first day in Beijing I didn’t bring any water. It was very hot and bought some in the Forbidden City. My guide said she asked her boss about water and I was only to get drinks with my meals. I was a bit disappointed. The rest of the time in Beijing I made sure I brought water with me (the hotel gave me free bottles of water). In Xian I was given free water everyday which was very good because the hotel did not offer free water.
All the restaurants were great. All the restaurants were clean and tidy. The food was always delicious. There was always a lot of food and a lot of variety. The waiters/waitresses were amazing, always polite and provided great service. I don’t know the name of the restaurant but my favorite was one I went to my first day in Beijing for dinner. I had chicken with pineapple sauce. It was amazing. The restaurant was very nice too. There is a little pond and you walk over a little bridge as you enter. The staff was great too.
The hotel in Beijing was amazing. Much better than I expected. Very clean and comfortable. Somewhat noisy because of the traffic but it wasn’t a problem. Great view and great location. It also had a computer which was nice because I could keep in touch with family. The breakfast was really good and had a lot of options. The hotel in Xian was what I expecting. Nothing really amazing, but had everything I needed. The breakfast was more limited but they did offer to make me western breakfast which I had one of the days and it was very good. I thought it was very nice of them to offer the western breakfast everyday.
Amanda, my guide in Xian, was just fantastic. She has a great personality and so much knowledge to share. She was always fun to be with and provided me with both historical and cultural information. She always had wonderful and entertaining stories to share. If I return to China with my family I hope she can be our guide in Xian!
Thank you to everyone at CT for your wonderful tours. You offer a great service to foreigners (especially females traveling alone). I can’t say enough good things about CT! Thanks for a wonderful week in China!
