Tour Summary : Besides touring in the ancient capital city, Beijing, you will also see the other famous ancient cities, covering Pingyao, Datong and Taiyuan. Pingyao is possibly the best-preserved ancient walled city in China and Yungang Grottoes in Datong enjoy great reputation across China as one of the largest clusters of grottoes in China.
What's Special : The most interesting point of the tour is to do the extension tour to Shanxi Province, covering ancient wall city, Pingyao, Yungang Grottoes, Hanging Temple and etc.
Detailed Itinerary of This Tour Package
Day 1 - Arrive in Beijing
CTO guide will hold a welcome sign to meet you at Beijing airport, and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of today will be free for you to adjust the time difference or explore the city by yourself.

Day 2 - Beijing
Pick you up at the hotel lobby, then head to visit largest city square in the world, Tiananmen Square, and the grand Forbidden City where 24 emperors lived and ruled for over 500 years. After lunch, visit Temple of Heaven where ancient emperors worshipped and prayed for harvest. Today's Beijing Duck Dinner is served at a famous restaurant followed by a fascinating Peking Opera performance in the front zone at the Liyuan Theatre. （B+L+D）
Day 3 - Beijing
Proceed to the famed Mutianyu Great Wall (including cable car up and toboggan down) here you can enjoy the stunning views as you stroll along. After enjoying lunch at a local popular restaurant, continue to Ming Tombs through Sacred Way. On the way back to the city, you will have a photo stop at the Olympic Stadium, nicknamed Bird's Nest and the National Swimming Centre, also known as the Water Cube. Dinner is left for you to taste some local snacks yourself. （B+L）
Day 4 - Beijing-Datong
Today you will visit the beautiful Summer Palace, after a la carte lunch, experience the Chinese traditional life style in the Hutong area by rickshaw afterwards. Transfer to the railway station take the soft sleeper train to Datong. Upon your arrival, our guide will meet you at the railway station and transfer you to the hotel. （B+L）

Day 5 - Datong
Pick you up and transfer you to visit the featured Hanging Temple in Mt. Hengshan and Wooden Pagoda in Ying County. Then drive back to Datong. （B+L）
Day 6 - Datong - Taiyuan
As another ancient city, Datong boasts many must-see attractions. Your tour will cover all of them including one of the Four Grottoes in China, Yungang Grottoes, the spectacular Huayan Monastery, the splendid Nine-Dragon Screen and Shanhua Monastery. Then to the Train station to take a train K7801 1605/2136 to Taiyuan. Our local guide will pick you up at the train station and transfer to the hotel.（B+L）

Day 7 - Taiyuan - Pingyao
Transfer to Pingyao, your whole day sightseeing in Pingyao Ancient Town covers the highlights such as Rishengchang Draft Bank, Ancient City Wall and Ming and Qing Street, etc. （B+L）

Day 8 - Pingyao - Taiyuan
See the well-preserved Qiao Family Compound, and the ancient Shuanglin Monastery in the morning. On the way to Tiayuan, visit Jinci Temple. See you off at the airport. Service ends. （B+L）
