Tour Summary : This tour takes you to fully explore the major cultural and historical relics in Shaanxi Province and the famous Buddhist mountain-Wutai Mountain. By taking this tour, you will appreciate the art and architecture in Wei dynasty by seeing the Yungang Grottoes, Hanging Temple etc, and pay a visit to Qiao's compound and Pingyao Ancient Town to imagine the prosperity of Shaanxi commercial in Qing Dynasty and the relics of government relics of Qing Dynasty.

Day 1 - Arrived in Datong
You will be met by our guide at the railway station or the airport and be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the time will be left for you to have a good relax for tomorrow's tour.

Day 2 - Datong
Today's Activities Your tour will be started with a visit to Yungang Grottoes, one of the four most famous "Buddhist Grottoes" in China, which is 16 kilometers west of Datong. 53 caves are cut into the southern cliffs of Wuzhou Hill with over 50000 magnificently carved Buddhist statues. Then back to downtown and visit Huayan Monastery, Nine-Dragon Screen and Shanhua Monastery. (B+L)
Day 3 - Datong - Wutaishan (Summer is the best time to visit there)
Today we will head to visit Wutaishan, one of the four sacred mountains of Chinese Buddhism. En route, visit the unique Hanging Temple in Hengshan Mountain. The temple was built in Northern Wei Dynasty(386-534 AD), is a wooden construction supported by a few wooden posts, leaning over the sheer cliffs above Golden Dragon Canyon. Afterwards, visit Wooden Pagoda in Ying County, the largest and oldest wood pagoda in the world. (B+L)

Day 4 - Wutaishan
You will reach Wutaishan Scenic Area by cable car. You will spend the whole day in the mountain, which offers you an opportunity and enough time to enjoy the great numbers of temples, including some of the oldest wooden buildings surviving in China such as Pusading, Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Longquan Temple and Southern Hill Temple. Day 5 - Wutaishan-Pingyao
A 6 hours drive will take you to the ancient Pingyao City, which was included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1997. (B+L)
Day 6 - Pingyao
You will tour Pingyao with your guide for a whole day. Pingyao City was first built in the Western Zhou Dynasty (BC 827 ~ BC 782) and the financial center in late Qing Dynasty, which is now regarded as the most complete preservation of integrity of the historic city of China, as well as the ancient city prototype. You will visit all the highlights of this ancient city like Rishengchang Draft Bank, Ancient City Wall and Ming and Qing Street, etc. (B+L)
Day 7 - Pingyao - Taiyuan
Pay a visit to Qiao's Family Compound, a large number of traditional houses to discover the art of architecture in Qing Dynasty, then visit Shuanglin Temple, which is regarded as the ancient painted sculptures museum. After lunch, visit Jinci Temple on the way to Taiyuan airport.
