With its long stretches of beautiful beaches, bays and isles, it’s heaven for scuba diving, snorkeling and other water sports and activities. In recent years, Sanya has become a major tourist destination for tourists, from home and abroad, all year round since plentiful sunshine, fresh air, and lush vegetation makes it an ideal holiday resort. September to February is the peak season because many tourists from Northern China like to escape the cold and go to Sanya to soak up some sun for their winter holidays. Sanya’s natural beauty made it the choice to host Miss World contests in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007, a Mister World contest in 2007 and also the World’s Strongest Man contest in 2006.
